The fact that the flames have not been granted permission to talk with Bruce Broudreau, makes me think the chances of us being trade partners to land Anderson very small. Just my thoughts but it seems less likely now.
I would be alright with Fleury! I think he would be a perfect stop gap for Jon Gillies to get the experience he needs. - Yeah...Baby
A second round pick and a prospect or 2 seconds is (Calgary might have 3) a reasonable offer. |

The Flames have way too many holes in their lineup to be trading draft picks and prospects away. I thought it was a bad idea last year to trade away all those picks and it would be even worse this year.
If the Penguins or Red Wings are looking to dump a goalie and will make a trade for someone like Wideman, that would be great. If not, keep building the team and bring back Ramo and Ortio. - Hunkulese
Anytime you have a chance to trade draft picks for a(at the time) 21 year old D at 6'4" a right shot and is already playing top 2 mins. showing good possession rates and scoring acumen, you do it.

I wonder how many McDavid's it would take to pry Murray away from some of these genius Pens fans... |

Take out Hamonic (love to have him but we'd lose him to expansion) and add Strome for our 6th OA and FLA 2nd - TandA4Flames
Would we lose hamonic though? I admit I haven't followed the expansion that close but from what I remember it could potentially be 7 players and 1 goalie.
If that was the case I would keep gio, Brodie, Hamilton, hamonic, mony, Johnny and Bennett.
At most we can only lose one player which would most likely be backlund. I love the guy but bennet should/hopefully take over 2nd line center next year anyway.
Didn't hamonic say he wants a trade? If so that lowers his value which is good for us. Acquiring him would make our d top notch for a long time.
Would something like backlund, our 2nd or Dallas first if they win this series, and backlund get it done. Would love to throw in wideman but we might have to retain salary |

Agree 100%. The draft is always a crap shoot. There is potential but you make that trade all day every day for a proven young top d man |

The fact that you included Backlund twice in the same deal makes me think you haven't thought out this post as well as you could have.

Where are the other 3? The 4 2-1 loses to the Rangers last season???? - Brianandr1
09-10, 10-11, 11-12, 12-13= sub .900 sv pct each playoff, gaa 2.5 or above in all 4, 2 of which were brutally high. |

The Dallas 1st would essentially be a wash with theirs. That is why I like giving the 6 to kick them Wideman and also add Backs for their low 1st plus Hamonic/Halak. Still 2 1sts, get a top4 dman, and a 1G. Hamonic wants to play close to the Peg so his value is diminished a bit due to a limited amt of trade partners. Win win.
Colborne is garbage. I don't see his rights meaning much unfortunately. |

Good point. The first would essentially be a wash. That case of wild rose anthology sneaks up on you. I do think colbornes value will never be higher then right now though. He really turned it on at the end of the year. And we don't really want a new bouma contract do we?
Given where we are in the rebuild, I am not sure if parting with our 6 oa is a good idea. |

Weak. I'd be ok with Cameron or Boucher, but not terribly excited about it. |

When was the last time a team won a cup with only offensive minded defencemen? Defensemen who could play in their own zone was a glaring weakness two years ago and then they traded for someone who was worse defensively than anyone they already had to fill a hole they didn't need filling. |

General Fanager has Fleury on the need to protect list. And the link provided didn't say anything to the contrary. - MaximumBone

While the 31-year-old Fleury carries a no-movement clause, Dadoun cites a Sportsnet report indicating that only covers waivers and demotions. Fleury has a partial no-trade clause in which he must annually provide a 12-team no-trade list. If there’s an expansion draft, his no-movement clause won’t protect him. |

He asked or a trade, it doesn't mean NYI have to grant it. He is under contract, after all. Snow has already said he won't take low ball offers so I don't think his value is lessened in any way.
Also, Colborne scored 40 + points this year....that's not garbage regardless of how people view him as a player. |

Who gives a (frank)!! Someone comes to you and says he wants to move a O minded D man that's 21 and already a proven point-getter in this league and all they ask for is 3 magic beans and youre going to say "No thank you." If OTT offered you Karlsson for a mid rnd 1st and 2 late 2nds....you' going to say no because he's too offensive and we need D minded guys?
Give me a break. At absolute worst he's a huge asset you can trade later for much more. NOTHING is worth more than guys that can produce offense. NOTHING!! |

As a pens fan you don't remember the series' lost to the Flyers??? Giroux's 8 point playoff game? Being unable to stop a beach ball? Depending on Greiss and Vokoun because your team had no faith in Fleury when it came to the post season?
That's the Fleury being discussed here.
While I would be glad to have him on the Flames, he's great for the regular season, but learn how he's played in his career before you sugar coat him and demand the world for him.
Lots of goalies are available this offseason. The Flames aren't desperate for Fleury. |

So now Hamilton is comparable to Karlsson?
I don't really have a problem with Hamilton, but if the goal is to build a Stanley Cup winning team, it wasn't the best move. |

No, I'm not comparing anyone. I'm trying to make a point. You said you didn't like the trade because you felt we needed more defensive minded D to be contenders. I'm simply pointing out how ludicrous and narrow minded that line of thinking is. By your reaction, i'm guessing you would have been happy with the trade if it was Karlsson, even though, as good as he is on offense, he's pretty questionable on the D side?
So basically, I just don't understand what you think there is to dislike about the Hamilton trade.
