No, I'm not comparing anyone. I'm trying to make a point. You said you didn't like the trade because you felt we needed more defensive minded D to be contenders. I'm simply pointing out how ludicrous and narrow minded that line of thinking is. By your reaction, i'm guessing you would have been happy with the trade if it was Karlsson, even though, as good as he is on offense, he's pretty questionable on the D side?
So basically, I just don't understand what you think there is to dislike about the Hamilton trade.

The guy is nuts if he thinks the Hamiton deal wasn't AMAZEBALLS for us
he's just getting better and that may mean his defensive game grows too...but even AS IS it's a great deal for us for such a young stud d-man

If Boston wasn't trying to burn their former GM they likely would have had to pay more on top of it. The deal for Dougie was great value.

As a pens fan you don't remember the series' lost to the Flyers??? Giroux's 8 point playoff game? Being unable to stop a beach ball? Depending on Greiss and Vokoun because your team had no faith in Fleury when it came to the post season?

That's the Fleury being discussed here.

While I would be glad to have him on the Flames, he's great for the regular season, but learn how he's played in his career before you sugar coat him and demand the world for him.

Lots of goalies are available this offseason. The Flames aren't desperate for Fleury.

The trade will depend on 2 things - the seller promoting his stellar past 2 years saying that is what you are buying that's the player he is, the buyer pointing out what you have.

So it's somewhere in between, or if your a team that wants to win you pay for the former as I doubt you get the chance to buy the latter.

Or you go with the alternatives, I remember Ryan Wilson having some doubt on Flower before he was extended. He proposed Niemi as a comparison - so, I'm very glad JR extended Flower as he carried the team up to Xmas this season, & kept us competitive with 5D men & our top 2 out last season before & during the playoffs.

So now Hamilton is comparable to Karlsson?

I don't really have a problem with Hamilton, but if the goal is to build a Stanley Cup winning team, it wasn't the best move.

Incase you didn't notice we have gio and brodie. Hamilton as our third best d man says a lot. He was rough at the beginning of the year but he adjusted and looked great towards the end of the year. So please tell me who we would of drafted with our first and second last year that would have more of an impact than Hamilton

If i'm Pittsburgh, I'd keep Fleury around for another season to help Murray adjust and to make sure he's up for the job. While I think Fleury would be great in Calgary, I think the Pens would want a lot for him so I suspect it's not going to happen. I still think Reimer is the best option.

Take out Hamonic (love to have him but we'd lose him to expansion) and add Strome for our 6th OA and FLA 2nd
