Demoting Ericsson doesn't do much as you would still have his cap hit with the big club. Well, all but 925k of his cap hit.

I agree with trying to move Nyquist or Tatar for a true top 4 defenseman.

They've got to let Miller, Helm, Richards, and Quincey walk.

They need to move Datsyuk's contract so they can free up 7.5 million in cap space. I'm guessing they will packing his contract with a 2nd round pick to a team like Arizona for a 5th or 6th round pick.

It would be nice to see them move Howard for anything, even a bag of pucks. Just remove that contract!

I'm thinking Russo, Oulette, and/or Sproul will get a shot with the big club. I'm not sure how much time but at least one of them needs to get a look. Fresh blood is needed BIG TIME!

After re-signing Sheahan, Pulkinnen, DeKeyser, and Marchenko you are probably at 51 million so you'll have roughly 23 million to sign free agents.

I think you missed Sheahan in your list of returning forwards. Also some of those players need to be resigned so idk if you included that in your salary cap cause I think thats a bit more money than they will actually have for FAs.

I would not be opposed to them trading one of Nyquist or Tatar, preferably Nyquist imo. Hes less of a pure goal scorer and he seems to do most of his damage on the PP. It would have to be for a top 4 Dman so someone like Fowler would fit the bill since it seems like they have to sign Lindholm and Vatanen.

In terms of Pavs contract...I hope it doesnt take more than a 2nd but...we are kind of handcuffed and teams know this. Hopefully yes they can trade Howard but its likely they will have to eat some contract... There are some other goalies that will be on the market making Howards contract harder to trade.

Overall Im excited by these moves because it shows they are ready to make a change. Holland has been pretty comfy for a while but now its time to start being active and see what he can do. Personally I'd rather see us lose with the kids in then win with some plugs. We need to see what they can do so we stop trading them away like Jarnkrok and Janmark. Thats not to say theres arent a few free agents I'm interested in (Backes, Ladd, Neilsen, Hamhius, Goligoski) but overall guys like Mantha, AA, maybe Bert, Oulette, Sproul should all get a chance to see what they have. Pulks and Jurco should be traded if they are gonna be used.
