Ok, because that price would be steep.

Were we a true no talent bottom team or were we a bubble team with more than enough injuries?
- VANTEL

i think some where in between we are probably bottom 7.8 in the league. I want nothing to do with being a bubble team. Top 5 picks get you to the dance.

It is a bad team with a horrible defense.

Don't let the injuries fool you.

I'm setting the under/over on Vantel changing his mind on the likelihood of the Canucks challenging for the playoffs at July 2.

hamhuis is not the answer but he is a stop gap so that you can deal edler for a top 15 pick hopefully top 10 if you add hansen or mccann. this team is not good at all and adding 2 free agents is not getting you to the playoffs anyway. deal as many players who wont be around long term so that we have spots to acquire players for basically nothing next season. which is also when we have 3 more bad contracts coming off the books. then make a huge play for benn and hedman to add to hopefully a first over all pick next season plus an additional few 1st rounder and 2nd rounders this year(edler, granlund, hansen, mccann). sign players that will have trade deadline value to 1 year deals and pay a little extra to make sure you get them, again adding picks.

its about as quick as you can get to legit being a playoff team with youth stock piled that will make you competitive for years.

Stop gap for what? Mediocracy? Isn't that what everyone is talking about being in the middle is the worst place to be.

I say it all the time Sh1t or get off the pot. Either build to win or tear it down and start over.

So you're taking the over? I'm thinking in between the draft and the start of free agency but you may want to wait for your free agency letdown.

Yeah I know I am always wrong. Most felt it was a bubble team I was saying 7 th from the bottom . My crystal ball was off by 4 . I sent it to the shop to have it repaired. Better luck this year

Injuries derailed the whole season, they weren't as bad as they showed and probably weren't as good as my 88 point prediction.

One very important thing happened this year. The strategy of tanking was crushed. I am not sure any team is going to intentionally try to get a lottery pick anymore. We went from having a franchise player to acquiring a good player.

I can't see Aquiliini Linden or Benning ever going back to trying to get a high draft pick on purpose.

Injuries also showed how paper thin the roster is. I just think that we as fans shouldn't be fooled into thinking this team is closer than it really is.

Lousy teams do well in the first half of the season. It happens every year as some of the better teams start slowly. The Pacific division was probably the worst at that last season.

This is a rebuilding team and I don't want shortcuts taken under the guise of "we can make the playoffs." Making some short sighted signings or trades like have been suggested will make them a bubble team for the next several seasons which delay the inevitable crash and proper rebuild.

Oilers dropped 2 spots this year also. Other years you were guaranteed to only drop 1 at the most.
