Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks: St. Petersburg is Great, Hamonic To Stay, UFA Targets Thumbs-up to St. Petersburg as a travel destination and on Loui Eriksson as a potential UFA signing this offseason.

Thanks Carol!

I don't want anything to do with Matt Martin. I dislike that guy sooo much. Andrew Ladd would be awesome, even though we don't really need a Veteran LW. I am really curious how Benning is going to approach Free Agency this summer, especially with some more wiggle room

I would rather Bernier over Eriksson. Try him with the Sedins. Big body, right handed shot... he might be the perfect fit!

Thanks Carol. Sounds like you've visited St.Petersburg at just the right time.

Frans Nielsen would be a great pick up depending on term and price. He would be a good 2nd line centre for us, and allow us to move McCann as part of acquiring another first round pick for a high quality defensive prospect.

don't go anywhere near okposo at 6+ per year. The guy falls down multiple times a shift and collects a lot of second assists, is a very frustrating player to watch.

nielsen is a bit soft, but a decent second or third line center. Martin is going to either sign with the Isles or get severely overpaid. If he gets more than 1.8 mil I'd walk away from that.

None of the FA's seem like good value this year. Laad, Okposo and Staal will all be overpaid in both AAV and term. I have an odd feeling that the Canucks will pursue Staal as a knee-jerk reaction to how thin the center depth got to this season. The press conference will go something like "We dont want to put guys like Horvat and McCann into the position they were in last year, playing more minutes in tougher situations, so we think Eric will bring us the depth to avoid that happening again"

Hamonic realized how much he enjoyed the playoffs and all the western Canadian teams wont give him that same enjoyment. Good thinking kid

I like Eriksson but don't think he is worth going after. Hansen is a very similar player even if not as good but at a fraction of the cost.

I do think JB should be trying to get Shaw out of Chicago.

Something like.

Sbisa, Etem (rights)
for
Shaw (rights), Bickell and Forsling

Sedin Sedin Shaw
Baertschi Horvat Hansen
Virtanen Sutter Rodin
Bickell Gaunce Dorsett

Edler Tanev
Hutton UFA
Hamhuis Tryamkin
Larsson

It all depends upon how patient JB can be, if he can wait out the rush and pickup a decent UFA that is looking for a team when other teams have already filled their roster spots/spent to the cap. or if a UFA sees the Canucks as a good opportunity, and is reasonable in their contract demands.

I don't want to sign older ufa's to term in excess of 3 years. don't want ntc's and if we have cap space, maybe overpay to get that sort of deal.

Bo is at least penciled in as 3rd line centre.

As mentioned by others, I hope JB will be able to take advantage of some cap teams looking to free up cap space and pick up a player as a sort of cap dump on a short term basis...

I like this sort of thinking.

You are missing Granlund, or not, don't like him as 4th line c anyway.

Henrik year in review.

"What the Sedins probably need to do is give Jaromir Jagr a call and find out what the hell he's been doing to stave off the aging process (mullets, I'm guessing. The Sedins need mullets)."

Agreed he has to be patient. I dont think top FA's are going to take less term but it would be nice to find that player looking for the "prove it" contract to leverage into something long term. Similar to Raymond turned a decent season with the Leafs into a 3 year deal

Thanks again Carol for your update. You should also write for Russia tourism , you are bringing out its best.

Can you do us all a favour and if you run into Dreger , kick him in the jewels and tell him it's from Vancouver HB Crew .

Thanks in advance.

Also can you bring us back some Russian souvenirs

Dragon would like a mail order bride.

A Steaming Lombardi would like a matryoshka to hide his pot .

Lefty would like some borscht for his Alzheimer's .

I just want vodka
