Or doughty. Draft is a crap shoot in not only picking the right guy but getting lucky that you have the right picks in the right year. - RealityChecker
More top dmen get drafted outside the top five than in it, just gotta trust Benning |

I (frank)ing can't stand Doughty. But I will give him props for being the first openly gay player in the NHL. |

yeah, ever since they got suter and parise they have been just mediocre. Couple of years they will be like Van and have some down years most likely. - manvanfan
Look at their top eight scorers this year. They only drafted two of them and five of them are in their 30's.

Free Agents for the wings to consider
LW RW
Lucic Eriksson
Ladd Brouwer
McGinn Versteeg
Stalberg Wiese
Martin Stempniak
Upshall White
and no they aren't in any order. - manvanfan
I dont know how I feel about this list. Adding almost anyone from the list would improve the team to some degree, but thats only because the team was so bad last year. Of the names listed, I like McGinn and the rest I'm not impressed with.
Your list also doesnt include the likes of Hudler, Purcell, Perron, Okposo, Boedker, Gerbe all of whom I would rather have than those above. Either because they can be had on shorter or cheap deals (Hudler, Purcell, Gerbe) or should be able to justify a bigger contract (Okposo, Boedker) |

Would TSN be covering Matthews as much as they are now if VAN had the #1? This is making me sick.
Highlight of the night is Matthews skating around and making a pass????
Soon they are going to chronicle how awesome he drinks from a water bottle.
In other news: Hamhooos about to sign a 1 year deal so JB can fail to trade him next TDL. jk
As for finding that dman. Best off taking Tkachuk, since Dubois looks to be going 4th to EDM or a team like MTL if they trade the pick.
Hutton and Tryamkin aren't Norris men, but they did come out of the later rounds. Just take the best player in Tkachuk.
Will be interesting to see where we go with our 33rd overall. |

Mikael Granlund had a career high 44 points this year (24 yrs old), he's 5'10" 185 lbs, probably why Minny has issues with the bigger Western teams. - LeftCoaster

couldn't agree more. The Draft is JB's Xmas. We can atleast be confident in him to have a good draft......
Just could of used a few more bullets in the chamber. Too bad we had no assets to move at the TDL |

my list didn't include hudler because he is the old and i don't think improves the team. Purcell couldn't help out any of the young players in Edmonton. Perron, okposo and boedker because of their age will probably price themselves out of Vancouver. Gerbe i really don't think would survive in the West. |

Look at Burrows and Higgins, 34 & 32 years old respectively last year, they fell off a cliff offensively. I don't want Benning to sign ANYONE 30 years of age or older!! |

Hudler did great things for Monahan in Calgary both on and off the ice. I dont think he comes to Van, but considering the season before this one he put up 76 points in 78 games and what the kids in Calgary have said about him, he should be considered. The team wants character and mentors, I would rather him be on the roster than whatever Dorsett can teach the kids, and thats coming from a guy that actually likes having Dorsett on the team
I agree on Gerbe but I think he could be had for a very cheap price so might be more worth the risk on bringing in skill as opposed to someone like Ryan White
Purcell was on a garbage Oiler team, no one could help them. He was in Tampa before that and was doing quite well, to me he's a safer play for the price/term as you should have a better trajectory for what he brings over the next year than the physical guys like Lucic who might breakdown at any moment |

I'd take Eriksson at 3yr 5.5. But would that be enough to land him?
Wanna give Sedans 1 last crack at it. Hansen is nice, but really they have nobody to play with. They need a scorer. I'm a no to Lucic and Okposo. |

One last crack at what? You think that 1 person will make a difference with this team? They have had a bunch of "cracks" at it. |

Hudler had one good season, other then that he is a 50 points a season guy. Van has guys that are 30 plus that are helping out kids. Hudler and Dorsett have completely different skill sets.
Lucic is 3 year youngers then Purcell and going to pay 1-1.5 more for lucic who IMO has much more intangibles then Purcell.
Ryan white is a physical 4th line player. Gerbe is a scorer who is small and isn't scoring.
I'm not knocking what your saying I just have a differing opinion. |

Just giving them someone to play with while they can still be productive. Not the best choice of words on my end.
Their cap money needs to go somewhere. They got enough of it. |

Sedins have two years left on their deals, in no way shape or form are they gonna get another shot at it in Vancouver. |

Agree Pens D are overachievers however Murray remains hot that will be the key |

No doubt, hot goalie can steal a series. I believed that whoever played better malkin or kuznestov would win the wash pit series.
Between pit and tb i think whoever wins the PP PK will win. I really don't know who is going to win the series. |

This is one of many articles you can find on his impact. He's a pure supporter/mentor of offensive forwards, aside from the Sedins there is no one else that can help these kids find and learn offense. Of the remaining 30+ guys, who else is going to help in that area? Vrbata=gone, Burrows=buyout candidate, Hansen=not a natural scorer, Higgins=AHLer and thats it. Dorsett, 29, has limited offensive skills, and Sutter, 27, has never topped 40 points. And I would add to the argument, how can Daniel or Henrik really relate to these kids when the two of them have played 99% of their careers only with each other?
Lucic has been a hot/cold guy, very polarizing and those that play his game tend to breakdown faster or drop off the cliff quickly (Clarkson comes to mind, though Lucic has always been better). Purcell to me is just a safe 3rd Liner who can move up or down a bit who I think could be had for cheaper and shorter term
Yeah, I just think the Canucks have enough bottom 6 talent on Forwards. Take a 1-2 year risk on an offensive guy rather than another grinder.
No problem! I enjoy talking to different opinions. Its much more interesting
EDIT: Also I dont have strong opinions on this topic either, I am not advocating for any particular moves and wont be upset over it if none of the player I mention are signed |
