Giroux - grabbed some guy's butt

We're getting there!

Don't forget about the Kane duo. They get loads of NFL cred.

Personally I feel for you, I was really glad to hear the Red Cross has raised over 60mil and both Alberta and the Feds have offered to match...hopefully that gets the ball rolling.

I will be fine. I can't collect as my company rents my place up there for me. I consider myself one of the lucky ones. I had a home to go back to. I have some money in the bank and I can float for a bit. Thanks for the worries. I donated a bunch of money to the redcross as well.

I'm not Toronto fan but I can think or 6 right of the top of my head. van Reimsdyk, Komorov, Kadri, Boazak, Gardner & Reilly. Toronto may not be better than the Canucks today but they are going to be very quickly. The Canucks prospect stable is virtually barren, Toronto has a ton & have positioned themselves to acquire a ton more with all the picks they have consolidated.

Jim Benning has seriously mismanaged what assets he had when he assumed the position of GM. The only thing Benning has done that I like was the Vrbata signing but then Desjardins sent him to purgatory before the playoffs even started the season before last. I have been a season ticket holder for 25+ years & am not renewing next season & the Canucks have offered huge incentives for me to do so. I used to love Linden & now his reputation is serious tarnished with me. Aquilini has destroyed this team & is not getting another cent of my money.

The bigger issue for the Canucks isn't who they keep but how are they going to expose 25% of their cap hit for next season. The Canucks will spend at least 70 mil next season so will need to expose at least 17.5 mil in salary for expansion. Sbisa, Dorsett, Biega & a bunch of prospects making at or near the league min not exempt as they have been on NHL/AHL contracts for more than 2 years isn't getting them any where near 17.5 mil. They will need to sign a UFA or 2 to at least 2 year deals to so they can be exposed to meet that threshold.

the loophole is a little fudging. Claim some injury and put a few players on IR which i believe exempts them from Exp draft.

I keep hearing suggestions that the Canucks should sign players to short term contracts without ntc's so they can trade them at tdl, couldn't these same players be exposed at an expansion draft?

I can understand season ticket holders being upset but the expansion draft is still at the minimum a year away and time to get the roster prepared.

as per Striker's comments about JB mismanaging assets when he first arrived, it can't be that surprising (still disappointing). Eastern NHL execs don't know as much about western teams and players as they should and we see the same stuff from a lot of the eastern media.

no matter how you write it, hands are tied.

I still remember when MG had that first news conference and he talked about bold moves and getting a real first line, not the Sedins

I have a little bit of sympathy for the people that dole out the $ to see games, I am disappointed when I watch a game at home and the team doesn't show up.

I expect a bold move or big trade by JB in order to make the playoffs. BUT, I am still unsure what to believe as we constantly hear contradictory statements from JB and TL.

Am I upset with this? not really.

we have such a fickle fan base, another top 5 pick next season could do wonders for the future but to have a losing season and be in that position might pi$$ off FA enough to fire JB. or is that the intended perception?

Does the posturing of wanting to make the playoffs sell tickets?

not knowing what to believe. there are few quick fixes to become a contender, playoff or otherwise, beyond a couple key ufa signings or crazy trade which could just as easily set the rebuild process back.

I'm a fan of this soap opera none the less.

If you are a fan, you end up paying for it directly through tickets and merchandise or indirectly through your time and attention.

all we do here is complain, gripe or however you want to label it.

(frank) if the Sedins were my first line I'd have a gigantic hockey boner!

One of these days they will start to slow down, but it could be years before that happens.

My least favourite factor in all the franchise decisions is "selling tickets". I think the team has done a better job sticking to a plan and making tough decisions that might not be popular, but this notion that they need to make a splash to sell tickets makes this process more frustrating.

I look at Toronto last couple years when they started their decent, signing less flashy players to 1-2 year deals who are effective and able to flip while ridding themselves of older players with long term contracts. They didnt bring in Canuck castoffs or trade Kessel to sell tickets and now they have promising young players and can start adding. I trust management to make the right decisions to get younger and faster, but constantly hearing about selling tickets makes me more uneasy about how firmly they want to stick to the plan
