Terrible game. To many passes in lanes thats covered when we had the chance to shoot. Not a bad game by Vasy, but he looked kind of drunk the first two periods. Had problem tracking the puck. Keokkoek grows with every game and should be a lock for a roster spot next year. Carle gets a A for bench warming but played his usual crappy game on ice.
Oh well lets forget this one and repeat last years series against Rangers. |

Just saw the replay of Drouins offside goal. Jesus this new rule ruins hockey. Im not saying that just bc of this situation, been slowing down play all year.
The leg is litterarly two feet behind the line but its elevated so it is ruled offside. So fking ridiculous. |

Offside is offside but this one where here's clearly straddling the line is stupid, His body position isn't offside and players have to skate not glide. If his whole body was ahead of the play yes it's an advantage but that clearly wasn't the case, and a big momentum swing following the no goal. Hats off to the Pens they clearly took advantage and took over the game. Will someone please tell me how the hell we are giving up so many last minute goals this series, I think I've seen more this series against the Bolts than all year, get the damn puck down th ice. |

The rule needs some tweaking. Drouin knows the rule but it still needs to be fixed because the rule is contradictory.
You're offside when "both skates are completely over the leading edge of the blue line involved in the play"
You're onside when "either of the skates are in contact with, or on his own side of the line, at the instant the puck completely crosses the leading edge of the blue line..."
By definition of the NHL rule Drouin was not offside but not onside. No excuse at all, everyone knows the rule and most players try to drag their foot plus this isn't Drouins first time doing that. NHL should word the rule better so someone can't be both not offside but also not onside. Cooper was a lawyer, I would have enjoy watching him spin the NHL rule since it is a mess, would have enjoyed that more then the first two periods. |

It's a terrible rule, and it likely saved the Pens season. |

I think they should only be able to take away goals if a goal is scored within like 5 seconds of the offside that was missed.
There was no advantage that the lightning got on that sequence because Drouin's skate was in the air and it had nothing to do with the skill it took to score that goal.
Just ridiculous. A league desperate to get more offense taking away legitimate goals. Dumbest rule ever |

It appears that Ty started a firestorm on hie thread. I'm gonna steer clear of that mess. I can only imagine the ban I would incur with all that. |

Phil Kessel's own goal almost killed the pens seasons. |

My biggest complaint about the offsides is a tiny error like that (either way) isn't as costly as the refs missing high sticks, tripping, etc... which they do every period.
Sure, if they were getting the rest of the game accurate, let's scrutinize this silly offsides thing, but really? |

Not sure I'd go that far. He has written some good stuff about the Lightning, but there is NO DAMN WAY I'm going into that thread. |

I was a big supporter of replay, but they've ruined it with this offsides scrutiny in hockey, the safe/out slide in baseball and the catch/no catch in football. Unless it is an obvious missed call in each of these sports, they should just stick with the call on the field/ice. |

First off:
Hats off to Tampa for a great series, no matter how it turns out. For the most part its been really good hockey and I really think you guys have a great coach in Cooper. I think the Pens have had a slight edge in overall play but the Bolts have had superior goaltending. No matter what the outcome tomorrow, a very good hockey team is going home.
Also, the offsides rule sucks and needs to be tweaked. The Pens were definitely the beneficiaries of some good luck there, but I think the own goal by Kessel kind of evened that out as the Bolts were pretty much done at that point but got new life from that play. I fully expect that we will never see Phil backcheck again. lol.
Tomorrow should be fun. |

I almost agree with everything except Football's catch/no catch. There has to be a clear definition of what is a catch or isn't one (no disrespect to Dez Bryant)
And plus, the ref/line ref is usually far away from the play. Replay is absolutely necessary. And plus after each football play, the play kind of ends before it begins. Not like hockey where an offside can have an impact 10-15 sec later |

that 3rd period is how the lightning played all last year and in some cases this year. extremely aggressive hockey in the offensive zone, with that breakaway being the only downfall of what can happen when we play that way. pens could not handle it. like cooper has said i the past, it doesn't happen very often and the good outweighs the bad when we play like that by far. It needs to happen from period 1 to period 3, but we've been saying that all year. still, this team never fails to amaze me. i truly believe tampa will come out red hot in game 7. |

It is terrible.
Cost the Blues two big goals. One was a win but it could have changed the tone of the entire series since it was the first game. The other one could have made it a sweep or less as it cost them the game. It is completely not what the rule was made for. It was made for those ones where it should have been obvious the guys was offsides for a mile and somehow no call was made.
Answer is the NHL needs to invest in some software somyou can translate 2D camera angles into 3D and hire more video guys so that every goal is automatically reviewed and make offsides not where you touch but where your body is. |
