Why is their an Anaheim goalie on a Sens blog? Especially when the article has nothing to do with Anaheim..... |

Michael McLeod is a 6'12", 190 lb centre - JaredCrozier
he's a tall bugger isn't he. |

I'm tired of the Sens drafting good two way players. I'd rather see the, draft high end skill and perhaps someone who might need a bit of work in other areas. |

Draft Julien Gauthier...
Per elite prospects;
An explosive power forward who boasts an elite-level skill package. Takes nothing for granted and plays with hard-nosed work ethic. Tremendous vision and outstanding hockey sense; thrives under pressure and doesn't stray from the high-percentage play. Willingness to play physical and win battles in his own end makes him a vital asset, stepping up at the game's key moments. Exceptional skating ability allows him to stay with, if not ahead, of each unfolding play. Refined puckhandling skills allow him to maintain puck control at breakneck speeds. All-in-all, a prolific scorer whose attitude and innate abilities will constantly propel him into dominance. (Curtis Joe, EP 2016)
Julien Gauthier has drawn well-deserved comparisons to current NHLer Rick Nash. He has an imposing frame, dazzling puck skills, and the drive to win. Learns from his past mistakes and implements new strategies to counteract them. [EliteProspects 2016] |

After reading the end of the blog I'd like to see this too. In that case Keller or Jost might be the best bets. |

Agreed that 1st and 2nd round picks should focus almost exclusively on the kind of high-end skill players that project to a top-2 line forward/defence pairing role. Defensive awareness, grit, and character can be found with later picks.
Rather than McLeod I'd far rather see them draft Jost, Keller, or Bean at #12, or even the likes of Gauthier or McAvoy. They may be riskier picks in some ways, but they at least clearly project to more significant roles on the team. |

Not big on McLeod. I just don't see him transitioning to the NHL game well. I can't put my finger on why, but I don't see it.
Bob MacKenzie reported today that Jacob Trouba could be hitting free agency. Would be an interesting guy for the Sens to go after. I know a lot of folks are hoping for Barrie, but I doubt the Sens will land him. I think that if the Sens had Karlsson, Ceci, and Trouba would be one of the best young right side D corps. The left is still in need.
I really hope Chabot is going to be able to pull off a top 4 role soon. At the same time, I don't want him rushed into a bad situation. Something tells me Claesson will see a bunch of top 4 time this year when filling in for injuries. I don't know if he has the tools or the experience for that sorta load.

Wonder what the value is on Drouin....
his ability to make passes to guys that can finish, the stick work and aggressiveness is certainly something to cherish....
for me it's about the consistency and production levels long term. Certainly attitude problems may be a knee jerk reaction to outsiders looking in, however I wouldn't dismiss those kinds of claims either. |

Drouin rescinded his trade request ( unofficially, I guess ) a little while ago. That combined with his increased performance through the playoffs makes it seem ( to me ) that it's now unlikely he is moved. |

As long as Cheapo owns the team our only hope is a tough Blues/Kings model where hard workers come on the cheap.
Sell the team to Desmarais, Cheapo! Your goodwill is about used up, so failure due to frugality is no longer an option. We don't want your stinkin' value per dollar principle of 9th place finishing.
The ex's settlement must be done, no? Sell, ride off into the sunset, and let the real men step up to the table. |
