OMG are we trading down again?
Trade up for Laine or take Dubois/Tkachuk. Done end of story. - thundachunk
What's wrong with trading down? We could trade for 7 and 20 and get another virtanen or horvat and McCann or Boeser. I'd take 2 players that could potentially put up 50 over 1 guy who puts up 70. That's just my thoughts though. |

It's Tuesday right?
Edler 5th and Gaunce.
for
Zibanejad, Zack Smith 12th and 42
Sedin Sedin Zibanejad
Baertschi Horvat Hansen
Smith Sutter Virtanen
Etem Granlund Dorsett
Burrows
Replace Edler with one of Yandle/Hamhuis/Goligoski/Campbell
Draft Bean/Jost/Macavoy at 12 and Hajek/Steel/Dineen/Bensen etc. at 42.
Zibanejad is 23 and could still be a #1 C for us, back to back 20 goal ~50 pt seasons.
Ottawa improves their D and get a great prospect at 5. - belcherbd
Who gets waived? |

Or you could take the 70 point scorer and then sign or next year draft a player who puts up 50-70 and boom I have more points than you |

so you get 70+70=140
I get 50+50+70=170. I have more points then you. I also have 3 ELC contracts so I can sign a bigger free agent because I have more cap space. |

He would require waivers? Does he have an out clause if he doesn't make the team? |

But yet he still managed to put together a club that went to the cup final in 2004. - LordHumungous
Did he though? he didn't draft kipp or trade for iggy, so I'd say not myself. |

We have enough "character power forwards?" Who exactly do we have? - CanuckDon
We have lots of two-way grinders, no snipers. You need both.
Vrbata was great the first year he was here and put with the Sedins. Don't think he'll be around next year, so where does the scoring come from? Another FA signing? Maybe Ericksson?
I like JV and every team would love to have a player like him, but my point is that Ehlers would have been a better choice for us at this point. But it's done. I'm sure JB has a plan. |

And in 3 years you're boned cause you drafted a ton of top talent at the same time and now don't have the money to keep them all so you lose 1 for a bag of pucks |

Yes, he will be sent to Europe if he doesn't make the team.

Well, if he wants to play in the NHL, waivers would be another avenue if the Canucks don't want him... other teams had expressed interest last season. |

ouch. thats a JB signing
I'd give Baer 2.25. Just like I'd give Sbisa 3 and Dorsett 2.
1.675 savings (forgive me if I'm wrong)
JB handed out just a little too much. But it adds up.
I gott finish shaving and packing my lunch! gonna be late for work! Come on draft day! - storm88

Yep. Button drafted Iggy when he was in Minnesota/Dallas and even though Iggy was in Calgary before Button got there he was still largely responsible for getting the right pieces for that 2004 Flames cup team. Kipper was Sutter I believe but again largely the pieces were put in place by Button. |
