Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks: Warming Up to Pierre-Luc Dubois, NHL Expansion Decision As the top draft prospects make he rounds, Pierre-Luc Dubois makes a strong case for himself, and the NHL's expansion committee is expected to make its recommendation today.

First.

Tkachuk had a great memorial cup and has stolen the #4 spot most likely but even tho Dubios is from the Q I personally think he is the better of the two and especially for the Nucks, the player they need to draft.

I think its very safe to say Dubios is much more of a driver and Tkachuk much more complementary. As well as that for tool set Dubios is clearly superior in size, speed, and hockey awareness.

The only thing Tkachuk has over Dubios is grit.

If Van gets Dubios they should be very happy.

I keep hearing this but I don't understand it. Everything I have read and seen suggest that Dubois is the more physical player, that isn't to say that Tkachuk isn't gritty as both play in the tough area's, but Dubois is also a devastating hitter as well.

Columbus need a number one center . Don't be surprised to see them take Dubois

He is the 3rd best centre in the draft. Dubois only recently started playing center so one could say that he is the second best center in the draft.

I cant see them not taking Puljuarvi. The Canucks also need a #1 center but if it comes down to TKachuk and Dubios and Benning thinks Tkachuk is the BPA I think he will take Tkachuck.

It wouldn't change anything for the Canucks the consensus for 5 is whoever is left between Tkachuk and Dubois. No chance Edmonton would pass on Pulj

Agreed, it truly cannot be all that complicated.

One of Dubois or Thachuk (sp) will be remain at 5, Benning picks the leftover and heads on home.

It's not the time for him to be taking risks and/or "making a name" for himself.

Franchise seems content building a team of meatheads and knuckle draggers, might as well go full throttle and sign the pinnacle of "grit".

Alternatively, he fills a hole and would add 50-60 points. Between him, EG, Tree, Virtanen and potentially Pedan, it would make for some entertaining hockey ( although probably not very successful).

Aka, the apathetic Canucks view lol.

The one take away I got from the Duthie quiz was that the Charlie McAvoy is physically gifted, which makes me wonder if he goes back to school or surprises by making an NHL club next season

That would be foolish by them in my opinion.

No need to be disappointed. Seattle will get it's team in or around 2023-24 possibly several years sooner. As Carolina nears the expiry of it's lease they will move to Seattle. As the years drop the buy out to get out of that lease keeps declining.

The biggest issue is will the new building eventually built in Seattle be hockey or basketball specific or dual purpose. If it's built basketball specific I don't see the NHL moving to that market or arena. Regardless it's at least 6 years from becoming a reality. Once the shovel hits the ground to get some systemic testing done it's about 3 years to completion but currently there isn't even a full commitment to build 1 just a few possible interested parties. Engineering, architecture, planning & funding will take 3 years once everyone gets on board to actually build it.

The Barclay's Center is basketball specific & a terrible venue for hockey. I attended a game there this year, back east for a wedding. It was awful. I could see the entire ice surface from my seat for the most part but the site line was weird & the scoreboard sort of impeded my view. I had to kind of crouch down in my seat bellow it to see clearly at times. I would wager at least 1000 people can't even see the entire surface!

It makes no sense to me that NYI moved into this facility. There average game attendance dropped from 15,334 their last season on the Island to 13,626 this season in Brooklyn! Does that make sense to anyone else?

I agree with this, but if we are focused on taking the consensus bpa, why have a gm that is good at drafting instead of one that is good at trades?

maybe JB is here for the later round gems, but if that is the case, he really should be assistant gm and a guy like Tallon gm.
