Payroll wise, at some point that oiler roster is going to be impossible to manage under a salary cap structure. They need to stay away from players like Lucic for the very reason you posted above. - bloatedmosquito
It's makes Benning's job easier if other teams overpay. With the flat salary cap if the Canadian teams don't make the playoffs the smart teams shouldn't be doling out long term contracts except for those superstars. |

The Islanders didn't impress me at all this playoffs. They still need a few pieces before they start acquiring guys like Lucic. I hope they keep integrating their young prospects into their lineup. They could be a force in a few seasons if they play it right. - bloatedmosquito
Could it be that the team just didn't have the experience this playoffs and would be better next year? I wonder if Tavares will stick on the island or could he end up in the same place as Stamkos as a FA

We just got rid of Shink and we have Sven and Rodin - VANTEL
So? Get TT, and eventually trade the lesser of the 3. I Think the overall order of skill would be TT, Sven, Rodin. Even if we just got TT to trade him. Get him for less than his value and trade him later.
TT-Dubois-Boeser
Sven-BoHo-JV
That looks like a solid top 6 in a few years. |

Agreed, it truly cannot be all that complicated.
One of Dubois or Thachuk (sp) will be remain at 5, Benning picks the leftover and heads on home.
It's not the time for him to be taking risks and/or "making a name" for himself.

Edlers not going anywhere we all just need to except that fact. Management love him and he won't waive.. They're not gonna trade Tanev for future assets when that's what we just traded to acquire a top 4 Dman.. And Hutton and tryamkin would just be back peddling I would think.. Plus not enough.. I'd also have tryamkin on the untouchable list right now, let's not be the team that kept redden and traded Chara - MaWLz
hes gone when expansion happens so might as well trade him now. You are keeping tanev and hutton and after what jb tossed up for goody not a chance they let him go for nothing. trade edler and resign hamhuis on a one year. |

No need to waste all that top end talent , you will be drafting high next year again. Then you can get your Dman |
