it's funny, human nature, for whatever reason, makes us only remember and cast individuals in a certain light from the bad things they've done. Just like Dan Cloutier, he was actually a pretty decent tender but everyone poops all over him because of ONE goal.
Button was Director of Scouting and Player Personnel from 1992 to 2000 with Dallas, he helped draft a bunch of good players for them and they went to two finals, winning once.

Button laid an egg every year he was drafting as gm of calgary |

Could it be that the team just didn't have the experience this playoffs and would be better next year? I wonder if Tavares will stick on the island or could he end up in the same place as Stamkos as a FA - allsports
I think Greiss won them many games they shouldn't have. He saw 388 shots in 11 games. In comparison, TB goalie Bishop saw 297 shots in 11 games. Greiss had a .923 SV%.
The islanders were lucky Griess played so well or they would have been beaten by Fla in the 1st round. IMO. |

I like Dan Cloutier. Great team guy. But didn't like him as a #1 goalie. Not because of that ONE bad goal. But rather his 3.31 GAA and .872 SV% in 25 playoff games.
Unreliable. |

Tomorrow, let's talk about whether Canucks should take Dubois or Tkachuk.
- storm88
It wont be our choice.
It will either be Edmonton or the team they trade the pick to for a D-man.
Edmonton SHOULD pick Tkachuk because he's a winger, but they are pretty stupid when it comes to 1st rounders.
Taylor Hall & the 4th for Subban, and Montreal picks Dubois. |

No way you get rid of Hall if you are the oilers. Not for subban anyway. You can tell the kid wants to win real bad. I would get rid of RNH or Yak before I would get rid of Hall. |

Seems to be the popular trade this off season but don't you think Berger in would be crucified and not able to leave Montreal alive if they made that deal? Their defence would such of they made that deal.

Definitely but in the playoffs you only need to have a hot goalie and you can ride him for a few series ie. king Richard for us.

Very true, but it's not a given that Griess will continue playing lights-out next regular season. The original question was if Lucic was a good fit for the islanders. They are going to need more than a hot goalie and Tavares to carry them through a long season and possibly a long playoff run. They have improved so much, just hope Snow doesn't (frank) it up.
Lucic doesn't seem like a good fit for them IMO.

Yeah don't think Lucic will fit in on the isle but Snow has already started to Frank it up by signing 4th liner Cizikas for 5 yrs for $18m or around that. Crazy $

But yet he still managed to put together a club that went to the cup final in 2004. |

How many forwards in the NHL are 6'6?
Brian Boyle is all I can think of.
He's too tall to be a centerman. 6'2 - 6'4 is the perfect height
Dubois = 6'25 = perfect - classic321
Hanzal is pretty close to 6'6" I believe... He's a dominate 2nd/3rd line centre when he's actually healthy! I see brown kind of the same tops out as a 2nd line guy.

he's a good 3rd. most he has ever scored is 41 in a season. Forwards that are that tall seem to find it hard. Boyle was drafted 21st in his draft year. |

It's kind of an either or. I think i'd prefer McGinn because lucic is going to want that much more money. |

Hanzal was a 17th OA pick... His points per game are at a 2nd line level.... Just can't stay healthy at all. Have to worry about those back injuries with those big guys |

Im not interested in Brown, the way the NHL is going id much rather draft Tyson Jost, skilled Center sure he doesnt have size but could very well see him taking over for Henrik and hsving a Pavelski-Couture thing going with Jost and Horvat |

Florida spent a lot of time in the islanders end from what I remember. Griess was spot on only had a few gaff's from what I recall. |
