Why are you asking me? - dbot

What ???????
You were literally implying that Columbus would go from 3rd to 5th for absolutely NO REASON - classic321
I absolutely did not. I said that's where I would start. Have you looked at their cap situation? They still need to sign Jones. I am not saying Hartnell has no value at all but I don't think they could unload him to just anyone for picks either. Anyone taking an aged vets contract is goin to be inquiring about their 3rd overall. |

Where does that number come from? - bazz
In 2011 the Canucks made $3 mil per home game, read it somewhere back in 2011, so 5 years later it should be $4 mil per game, just my guess. |
|
|

Exactly, more likely 4 or 5, that stuff is being leaked by Nonis. The Axl Rose of Hockey.

Not to mention that a team competing for the playoffs will sell more regular season games at a higher rate. |

"Could the Canucks pass on a defenseman at No. 5? Certainly. Should they? I wouldn't. "

"Chychrun didn't have the most impressive offensive numbers this season but one scout said that was more because of the talent around him with Sarnia. Put him with the talent Juolevi had around him in London and Chychrun would have had 25 more points. " |

They wrote that without taking into consideration the Gudbranson trade, we don't need a D-man now with our 1st pick, we need a centre. |

tkatchuk (sentimental pick), Tanev, Hansen (Burrows is a throw in)
for
Schiefle and Trouba (plus picks that won't play this year)
i see Tanev as very capable of replacing Trouba for Winnipeg. Different skillsets.
and Hansen/Tkatchuk is pretty good at replacing Schiefle.
but yes, older for sure. - dbot
Well Schiefle is a young proven NHL pivot, Hansen is a proven 3rd liner and Tkatchuk is a draft pick. Tanev may replace Trouba right now but the upside in Trouba is obviously much higher. |

I agree but if you look at their cap space currently it's pretty high. Without a cap raise they will be very close to the cap for next year. I'd add a very small piece but that's what I would lead with to see where their heads are at for Cap space relief. If they said no, I'd say ok thanks and let them simmer with it until the draft. I'm not sure JB is much of a salesman but you never know. - WhatTheNuck
We can trade them back their 2nd round pick....... |

Found this tidbit of info.

Does this make it easier to get Edler to waive so he can have some decision on where he plays? Or roll the dice in case he isn't protected? - WhatTheNuck
I have kept my mouth shut on this for some time. I would love to trade Edler for their 4 th pick.
You could draft Dubois and Tkachuk or trade hopefully to Wpg 4&5 for 2 nd |

I wouldn't be in a rush to trade Edler's contract. $5 million for a guy that plays 22-23 minutes a night isn't bad at all.. |

So you think he would be protected in the expansion then? When he has played those minutes he has become more prone to injury. Maybe it's bad luck but it's been discussed before that he probably won't be here for another cup run. It could be a win win scenario. |

Travis Koneckny = 1st rounder
Pavel Zacha = 1st rounder
Jacobs = 2nd rounder
Korosteleve - 3rd rounder
Some teams are lucky to have just 1 NHL draft picks on their roster
The talent around him was not the problem. He played terrible at the top prospects game, the U18's and the world juniors. |

He's a pretty handy asset to be handed over for nothing. He may be the only asset we have to protect on the back end if i'm readlng the protection rules correctly. If so, we are going to have a hard time even finding 9 to protect......why give him away? |

I like the idea of having 4 and 5 but would be more hesitant into thinking of flipping them again right away. |

I wouldn't think of it as 'giving him away' but more so of using him to acquire another D like Trouba or Barrie. I doubt he moves but I think this gives JB a bit more leverage if he asked him to waive.

I don't disagree but we need quantity and Dubois and Tkachuk could replace the Sedins when they leave. |
