Let's be honest. Laine has a 0% chance of falling to #3 never mind #5

I would like to know who the as$hats were that voted Bonino.

If the Sharks win tonight, tomorrows poll should be who is the Conn Smythe for them as they have a few also.

Pavelski 13goals leading the playoffs
Couture 26 points leading the playoffs
Jones 3 shutouts and his team has the lowest goals per game this playoffs.

All it takes is Jones to go in to complete shutdown mode and win the next few games.

Games 1 and 2 in Pittsburg could have gone either way.

Bonino has been pretty integral. He blocked like 4-5 shots last game. But in order for most deserving:
Kessel, Crosby, Murray, Bonino,

And Game 3 in SJ could have gone either way

I agree that if SJ makes a comeback and wins that their players will be the ones being discussed but if Alfredsson can't win despite being the most dominant player during the playoffs in 07 and losing 4-1, neither can Pavelski or another shark.

Any game can go either way but the Pens have outplayed the sharks every game including the one the lost and it could easily already be over.

Though you never know, I think Vancouver will sit tight at 5. A top 5 pick is huge for building a team's future. Sure Vancouver's management wants to be competitive and build at the same time, but you still need the build portion of that. Take a Dubois, Tkachuk, or anyone else they like at that spot. Will be a good part of the future.

As to the Conn Smythe, I say Kessel. Yes getting there without Murray would be a problem. But, he's been solid, not the guy stealing games. You need solid goaltending as a prerequisite to make the cup final, if that was Conn Smythe worthy then the goalie who wins should get the award every single year.

I don't think the Penguins get this far without Kessel. That kind of elite skill on the third line is crazy depth and frankly for a lot of the playoffs his line has been the most dangerous, thus why he's leading his team in goals and points. So yep, I pass that award to him if the Pens can close this out.

I love when guys who have never built a NHL team, tell us how to do it, these fools are paid to talk not think, that's why Benning really sucks at talking.

I'm with Carol on this one, How many games has Murray stolen? None in my opinion, he's played well but the team outshoots the opponent and controls the puck in the o-zone. It's Crosby or Kessel and I think Crosby's faceoffs, clutch passing and scoring has been there the whole run. Same with Kessel.

Murray doesn't have to steel games for the reasons you mentioned, he does have to keep his team in the games.

Right, which makes his playoff run good but not great. Think of the types of goalies that usually win and why. Does Murray belong in that conversation?

Goalies get no respect. Hard for them to win games, easy for them to be the goat.

If a goalie has a bad game, the game is likely lost, if a skater has a bad game, others pick up the slack.

There are more goalies with conn smythe's than any other position. So... no.

Is that the consensus of why that was a "bad" trade?

I'm not sure about that logic, maybe if you don't have a good goalie you can't win?

How many backup goalies win the conn smythe?

It is all apples and oranges anyway. I don't really care who wins.

If Fleury was in net would the Pens be 1 game away from winning the cup? Doubt it... And that's why Murray wins the Conn Smythe.
- Razzdazzle1

Couldn't the same be said about Crosby? I don't think they're 1 game away from winning the cup without him in the lineup as well.
