Klimchuck was the guy they drafted with the pens pick so I think it's fitting for him to go back in a deal

Zatkoff is UFA and at 29, is definitely not the reason Fleury has to be moved. Jarry could be coming up might play a bigger role.
Fleury should be pretty cheap, relative to the market in years past. Plus, dude will be 14th in cap hit next year and 16th in actual salary. That ain't so bad for arguably atleast a top 10-12 goalie. |

He's definitely worth the money he makes. I was more so referring to the fact the Flames will have next to no cap once Gaudreau/Monahan/Colborne re-sign |

Whats your estimation on what Reimer will be signed for (wherever)? To me I see him in the 3-4 range and if thats the case I'd rather spend up and take MAF (Assuming a deal can be had) |

I have no issues with bringing him in. Not sure he is going to steal a cup but he would be stable. |

Then again you could probably get Lundqvist for pennies on the dollar and be ready to absorb a cap hit of $8.5m x 5 more seasons.
Say goodbye to one of Gaudreau/Monahan! |

Again, there's no doubt Fleury would be an upgrade but a good case can be made that retaining assets and signing James Reimer, for example, would be a better route to take.
yes, the better route would be to bring in the career backup to improve on allowing the most goals last season.

If Pittsburgh follows the successful Vancouver model for goaltending:
Murray is done
Fleury is done
Zatkoff is done
and Pittsburgh will end up signing James Reimer or some other Ryan Miller-FA

Reimer played for a Toronto train wreck ...he was very good in San Jose and would be an upgrade to what we had last year and we would have to give up assets |

The thing is, we have Jon Gillies coming up (same age as Murray and just as highly touted). If we trade for MAF (or any goalie for that matter) we could risk losing Gillies in the expansion draft or if Gillies is playing lights out he could find his way on to the team and we find ourselves in the same situation the Pens are in now.
I'm still in favour of bringing in MAF, but the price has to be right. It's not smart for us to spend significant assets on a stop gap goalie, which is what makes Reimer appealing. |

Gilles is exempt because he missed all of last year to injury. |

Fck, what exactly did Reimer do in San jose? In how many regular season games (don't think you will find a very large sample size to say how good he was) & in playoffs, how many games did he play? Jones is the man in net in San Jose, Reimer is simply the backup. |

Even though I loved Fleury and dude was funny, etc
- He's an established, bonafide goalie (atleast above average)
- Pittsburgh will HAVE to trade him. His value will be pretty low for an established goalie since PIT really needs to get his cap hit off the books
- His cap hit isn't outrageous for an above average starting tender (5.75 x3)
- He's a standup guy and isn't a spiritual astrologer or nutcase (#bryzgalov)
At some point, the few assests CGY will be spending will prob be worth it. Its like the Oilers situation. You have great pieces in place; at what point do you stop collecting draft picks and finally get a established piece. Difference is, Talbot didn't have a large sample size but Fleury does. He's only 31.
I think a mutually beneficial trade could be made between PIT and CGY. Pit is prob less concerned with the actual return than 1) committing to Murray and 2) getting the cap hit off |

This has been said countless times, Gillies only has 1 pro year under his belt. He is protected under the expansion draft guidelines. |
