buddy ryan died
and yes - YuenglingJagr
Yeah, heard about Buddy, sad. You can debate his coaching acumen, but he was a true character in an often vanilla league and he always crushed the cowgirls. |

leino didnt fail in detroit, there was no room for him in detroit. he played very well for grand rapids, but this is moot, who cares.
there is a huge risk he doesnt live up to expectation, especially on the back of a career year in terms of points and goals, in a contract year. what im trying to emphasize is not the similarities of the player, but the danger of committing so much term and dollar to someone who has only showed one year of production. schenn's whole career translates to a cap hit of 3-4 million, tops. but scoring 59 points in a contract year while getting the minutes and power play time he does, shouldnt make him garner 6 million, or even anything north of 5 million. thats absurd in my mind. - sjk540
Leino wasn't brought to Detroit to be a star in Grand Rapids but like you said, moot point.
I never said Schenn deserved 6 million. I said he deserves 5 million on a multi year deal( preferably 5). What I said is if he follows up last year by reaching more milestones(30 goals, 70 points), you're looking at paying him 6-7 million over 6 to 8 years instead of the 5 x 5 deal which I believe is warranted and achievable with the Flyers' current leverage. |

CHL Import Draft didn't go great for Rubtsov. Definitely harder to imagine him coming to the CHL now. - Mononoke
Was hoping he would land with a team that has the resources to make a push. Anyone know what the rules are regarding trades with CHL import rights. Can they be done interleague? |

what you're not understanding is, what if he doesnt follow up from last year, then you are stuck with not only 5 million tied up in a player who regressed, but also for 5 years. thats a long 5 years when you have guys like ghost, provorov, konecny, sanheim, morin, hagg, leier, NAK, Fazleev, Lindblom, Straka, etc, coming up.
My point is that I am saying id rather do a one year deal and see if he can duplicate his results. if he does, than great, ill pay the extra 1 million (no way schenn gets a 7 million aav contract, unless he scores 40) knowing that my original 5 million investment wouldve been safe. if he doesnt reach up to those standards though, and hes signed for 5 x 5., thats a pretty big matzo ball hangin out there |

I understand the risk just fine thanks. I'm comfortable with Schenn making 5 million per year with all things considered. |

Dave Matthews Band is now a shell of itself. They all got lazy and bored with writing new material.
I can see how people might not like Phish and the culture around it (it's pretty terrible, IMO) but to call them untalented musicians is asinine. If I'm not mistaken they pretty much all have degrees in music theory and composition. They're very talented, although I can see how they might not be someone's cup of tea. - KGBflyers10

That's true for any player that is up for a new contract. That's the challenge of being a GM. Who to sign long term. Brayden Schenn has been steadily increasing his point production every season. It's a gamble that has to be decided on. What about if Jake Voracek doesn't bounce back? |

they can be dealt within the chl (don't believe they have to go through waivers like other players. It would typically be euro rights for euro rights or a euro draft pick. And top end Euros have to be looked after because you don't want your team to be known as one to just dump the Euros because that will close doors on future Euro prospects.

Pirri, Latta, Connolly.
Nice band aids, should be cheap, might be able to fill holes. |

The Free Agent Pool is strong and may even get strong from now to Friday. Regardless of how anyone feels about Stamkos, I feel he's worth the length max and sightly above the Giroux cap hit. I'll admit that I want him but I'll also admit that I don't think we'll get him, nor go after him. I'm under the complete understanding that Stankos won't make players around him better but he produces at a high rate. Giroux does make people around him better. I can dream of having both. We lack a guy who can take things into his own hands on a nightly basis.
With this said, there are appealing UFAs out there. None worthy of the max contract. Only Stamkos.
I hope Stamkos goes to Toronto. |

I'm not sure. Florida gave him away. Anaheim seems willing to do the same. I'm looking at a short term, 1-2 year band aid that might be able to add some offense on a cheap deal. |
