I think we could all list plenty of guys better than Hoffman
But are they available?
And for what price?
Landeskog for one
Taylor Hall would've been great
I think RNH is underrated
Nash is an interesting idea, mostly bc I think we can get him VERY cheap
The Ducks & Preds almost certainly have to trade a defenseman,
Possibly 2
I don't believe that Lindholm has signed yet
I'd offer sheet the hell outta Kucherov
They've got other forwards they won't be able to pay if they sign him
I like Kilorn quite a bit
Just some of the ideas I liked
I wouldn't be upset at all of we got Hoffman...
But again, at what price? - jdfitz77
Thanks, I've been saying since before Stammer decided to stay with Tampa that Offersheeting Kucherov is the best move, but he plays the right side right?...so I'd rather target the left with our remaining monies. If he plays left then I'm all in with you. I wouldn't mind Nash as a 2 year player until Nylander arrives ready to play in the NHL.
IF we get Vesey great!...then trade Kane++ for a solid lefty Dman.

I'm with the Clown, the Sabres need goal scoring, badly ... Get a sniper to bury the puck from Eichel and Reinhart dishes....we need that. I love guys who play a 200 ft game, but having a sniper burying the puck is critical as well.
Seems like the Sabres are loading up on 200 ft guys...which is awesome, but we also have room for a proven goal scorer...and if he doesn't play 200 ft so be it ... Neither does Ennis. - IonSabres
Alexander Nylander you're the next contestant on the price is right..... Or did we forget about him already I understand he might not be ready this year but that is your offensively gifted player that is primary offense |

If we can get a guy like Kicherov, you do it regardless of what side he plays
Maybe he or Okposo can play the left side
Or maybe we move Reinhart to 3C
I'm sure we can figure it out |

Sign Vesey, hang on to Kane for 1 more year, expose him in the expansion draft, pray to god Vegas takes him, replace him with Nylander after a year in Rochester.

If Vegas took Kane we'd know they're foolish. That would be about as good as them getting Jarret Stoll. |

We could offer them incentives to take him. They would fill cap space, have a capable player, and only be on the hook for him for one full season. If we threw in a draft pick or a prospect to take him, they might bite. Its not like they're gonna win the cup their first season anyway.
Hey, we can dream, right? |

Why do u wanna get rid of Kane so badly?
Obviously he's gotta grow up, but he's still a good hockey player
I'd think we can trade him for something decent instead of giving him (plus other assets) away for free
Zadorov had issues, and he was still the centerpiece that got us O'Reilly |

They could have Kane perform money stack push up contests in between each period to entertain the crowds that aren't at the beer vendor/slot machines |

Let's face it, Zadorov and Kane aren't comparable outside of one incident. They both missed practice.
I don't remember Zadorov getting police reports filed against him, and if I forgot where he did, I also missed the second and third time he did |

Kane is still a young, talented player
As of now, there's nothing he's been charged with or convicted of
Idk that we'd get back equal value,
But I'm sure there's plenty of GMs that would be interested |

You have to look at our timeline when it comes to contracts.
It just makes sense to let him go in the expansion draft. Sure, we'll expose some garbage players like moulson and may be georges, but if you're Vegas, which one of those 3 are you going to take?
His off ice issues combined with 35 points for 5.25 million a year are reason enough for me. I dont think any team is taking him off our hands for anything of value in return. I think hes a perfect player to expose in the draft. Clears cap space for us and vegas wont feel like they drafted a pile of garbage player.

I'd doubt any GM would be interested in Kane. He needs to be cleared first. This is going to be the second bridge burned by age 25.
If Vesey signs, Kane is on borrowed time IMO. |

I think you're giving up on him too quick
Let's see how he does for us this year
Bylsma's system isn't easy to pick up
And guys were shifted around like crazy last year
It's hard to develop chemistry & consistency like that
I expect more goals from Kane, Ennis & Girgensons
Even Moulson should be better
If Kane is betting 25+ goals (and I think he will),
Then I'll let Vegas pick a guy like Foligno off our roster

If vesey signs, our top 6 is set for years.
Kane spends one more year here and Nylander comes up to replace him.
Staggered young contracts with ROR & Okposso signed for years.
Bottom 6 is leftover vets and younger guys who play well enough for a contract.
Great structure. |

I think we need a solid top 9 to eventually win a cup.
Nylander might end up a center, or Reinhart. Hoping Bailey takes a step with Fasching and they can make 2/3 of a good 3rd line down the road |

I'm not a top6/bottom6 guy
I believe we should be building a top9
If our 3rd line ends up being something like
Kane-Girgensons-Ennis
Then we can create some pretty nice matchup problems for other teams
Or if we can get someone like Kucherov,
I'd be ok with Reinhart moving back to center the "3rd" line |

Well, we have to expose a certain percentage of our cap. So we may end up exposing kane and Foligno.
If kane picks it up, im all for it. But when he was traded for, he was touted as a "30 goal scorer" and he ended up with 35 points total.
And we can definitely both agree that he has a year to show us otherwise.
If he blows us out of the water, then Murray has some tough decisions to make. Especially if he signs Vesey. May be Nylander is eased in on the 3rd line in 2017-18?

I like Baptiste as well
Look at the guys that played on a line w Crosby & Malkin
They don't have to be "top6" talent to play with Jack or ROR,
They just need to fit and have enough chemistry to form a cohesive unit |

I hear both of you guys on the "top 9 philosophy" but that 3rd line does tend to have to be a little bit cheaper and sometimes, they're young, up and coming players that get lost to free agency or get traded because the team cant afford them come contract time. Look at Chicago. They have to make tough decisions every off season. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. |

I don't remember what the $$$ is that we have to expose...
But Gorges, Franson, Gionta & Moulson make up over 20mil
We'll be just fine as far as that goes
And depending on what other moves we could make...
Play Kane w ROR, and maybe our 3rd line could look something like
Nylander-Reinhart-Bailey in 2yrs
That looks pretty good to me |

I don't think u have to structure it that way though
Sure, u need some young, cheap guys...
But u can spread them out like Pitt did
Their 3rd like was higher paid that their top2 lines if I'm correct
Eventually, we will have to make tough choices
But I think we've got some time before that happens |
