It really depends on the draft and your teams projected finish. Sometime you need to fix now instead of fixing the future.
- VANTEL

You won't really know where your going to finish or how deep the draft is until half way through the season. Only way Vans giving up a first is if we are going for the presidents trophy or have a deal to get one back.

I think Edler is putting in time and riding out his contract. I think Tanev is the steadying piece on the young D. I don't see him going.
- VANTEL

One thing I will say about Edler is that he is competitive. I don't think he is riding out his contract. He needs to play with more of a chip on his shoulder. While I am not the biggest Edler fan he is still the best we have.

My point is Canucks have a four year window with the twins. They have one last kick at the can. Does Aquilini say go for it? If he doesn't , then there is no use extending Dan and Hank

Blechrd was talking about getting a Cleveland Steamer yesterday. I talked about my balls tingling and I am the creepy one.

I was just reading some comments from another website on the Canucks. Do some of Vans fans and other teams fan, really not understand what JB is doing still. Most of these people seem to be embarrassed that Van is actually going to go out there and to try and win. Edmonton has shown a tear down doesn't work. Toronto media is very good at making whatever Toronto does seem to be right. Get with it already, Vancouver is going to try and win. I said it the rebuild happens every year, it's called the NHL draft.
- manvanfan

Lets face it the majority of hockey fans are primarily uneducated on most serious hockey topics. Any chance the Media or Hockey News or Eastern bias gets to tear down the Canucks they will take it. Take it with a grain of salt as they are about as educated as TO seeing a 4th round in the playoffs

Virtanen wasn't the guy I would have picked at the draft but as of now I really believe that when he gets it he could be the one of if not the most dominating power forward we ever had. I want players to be able to grow and I want to see their successes as well as failures just like Linden and the Sedins.
- thundachunk

Not more than Bertuzzi. Remember big bert finished 3rd overall in scoring one season and reduced the opposition to tears.

We need to move Edler right now to Philly CAR DET or MTL for whatever we can get. Not a long term solution is Edler here.

Then we need a 1/2 defence man coming back. I don't see that happening.

I don't think anyone misunderstands what Benning is trying to do. He has been pretty explicit about it and nothing he's done contridicts what he has said. I think where people have issues is 1) the viability of his plan, or 2) his ability to do it. And the thing is, they might be right. As for myself, I'm willing to give him the rope. I like a lot of the things he's done and I'm actually pretty excited to see what the team looks like next season.

When you go through the roster it is pretty much set for the next 4 + years. It has 14 players under the age of 28. There are pieces on the farm. You can afford to give up one first round pick to bring in a 23 year old big , proven left winger.
- VANTEL

I'm hopeful for next season, but I wouldn't trade that first. If the injuries are anywhere near what they were last season it could be quite high.

I could even take another losing season, as long as the prospects take steps forward and the games are more competitive than last season. By the end of the year I'd almost forgotten what good hockey looks like.

I like the last time we played the three Cali teams. It may have cost us McDavid but it looks like he only wants to play in Arizona anyways

I agree for the most part but I do think there has been a bit of contradiction at least in the image he was selling initially. Hearing them say a few times that they weren't going to take shortcuts but watching them specifically targeting a lot of players who they hope would be ready sooner goes contrary to that statement.

As many have said though it doesn't matter what he says, only what he does and it's pretty clear by the teams actions that the goal is to continue to compete every year. Something that I support and enjoy, despite like you said having concerns about the viability of it or ability to accomplish it.
