Virtanen wasn't the guy I would have picked at the draft but as of now I really believe that when he gets it he could be the one of if not the most dominating power forward we ever had. I want players to be able to grow and I want to see their successes as well as failures just like Linden and the Sedins. - thundachunk
He's a really really good young player, he's still 19 years old, for another month anyways. They babied him last year, he's gonna be good as his confidence and minutes increase. |

One is proven and now, the other is a future project. - VANTEL
This is why the Leafs, who you make fun of, haven't been to as much as a Cup final since expansion. You draft and develop a core, unless some idiot gives you an asset like Seguin |

If Benning wants to make a hockey trade and he isn't willing to use Hansen there is a very small amount of players who would fit his veteran gritty top 6 LW criteria that this team could trade for.
Kane and Hartnell have been discussed lots but I would also add Anders Lee, Alex Kilhorn, Clarke MacArthur, Zack Smith, and Patrick Berglund.
I think any of the players would be options and could be closer to our price range than the Landeskog idea.

It's being reported he's looking for someone but at a cheap price. Whatever that means? |

I rarely agree with Vantel but If the cost was Virtanen and next year's first, I think you take it and run. At least now we have a sure fire top line player again.
I also think Virtanen is a really good player and stoked we have but if we are being really honest with ourselves, there is a very slim chance he can become as good of a player as Landeskog. |

Why so much hate for Hudler?.. I know he is on the small side.. but hes slick with the puck and can definitely make some plays. Wouldn't mind seeing him on a line with Sutter and Virtanen... someone who can actually dish the puck. What other option would be better for 2-2.5 million out there?... he isn't my first choice.. but for that price.. on a 1 year deal. I would do it.
Not a bad power play option either. |

He is a better option than selling the farm but I really have no interest in him. |

I agree but I think that the signing will end up being more costly and with term or he would already be signed

I might be in the minority (and I do not like WD or JB) but this team... if healthy... has a very legitimate shot at making the playoffs. 7-9 seed is probably a fair bet.
If Markstrom can continue to make strides... I like the look of our top 4.. mix of size and skill. And our top 9 should be competitive.
I would prefer a tank and get a couple top 3 picks the next couple years.. but with the Sedins here.. and ownership refusing to accept a major overhaul.. at least look at adding some pieces via FA or trade. Hudler and Pirri are two possible signings. |

You are probably right.. but some of these guys have priced themselves out of the market. I don't think he goes for more than 3. Russell.. Vrbata and Hudler have all put themselves in a tough spot. Russell is not getting that 5-5.5 he has been asking for and will likely settle for around 4... and Vrbata will probably end up in Europe. |

Cap? - VANTEL
My thoughts exactly. |
|
|

We have Eriksson for 6 years top line .
In the mean time you would have
Landeskog 23 Bo 21 Boeser 19
Sven 23 Sutter 27 Hansen 30 |
|
|
|
When they continually state top 6 scorer, we know that Benning doesn't have the assets unless he sends a top prospect which we all hope doesn't happen. I would love to see our guys develop, but if he could pull off a Duchene or Landeskog...different ball game.
But I like your idea...sweeten the pot with pot, what are you thinking a few kilos - Makita

We're swapping 4th liners and the player we get we'll put on the 3rd line so we win the trade |

I wouldn't be surprised if Hudler gets 4m over 2 years. Russell will be this year's franson I think. No idea about Vrbata. |
