He was dubbed "The Good One", but played like the "Sucky One".

The 3rd rounder for Vesey doesn't bother me. They had almost too many picks, and couldn't sign everybody to pro deals. It's essentially gambling with house money.

Other than the O'Reilly trade, of which to me the return still seems a little high considering it should have been Colorado negotiating from a position of weakness, everything has been a question mark.

Funny, some Winnipeg fans are saying the same thing about the Kane/Myers trade. Only good thing I here them say about it these days (at least the ones I know) is that they don't have to watch Kane mess up anymore.

I guess that trade got them the Finn so its a win for them.

Some Winnipeg fans are probably still attached to Bogo or Kane the way some Sabres fans are attached to Myers or Pysyk or whoever else gets moved.

Fact is they have the best player to date, and all the futures. We literally downgraded our blue line and got a problem child, and it only cost a ton

They got Laine only because they gave up halfway through the season. Not because they didn't have Kane.

They were an incredibly unlucky team. They actually had good possession and shot differentials, but had a low shooting %, and had sub par goaltending. I mean, if you want to blame a single D man for that....

Advanced stats are nice and everything but at the end of the day you either win or lose and they lost a hell of a lot more than they won.

They aren't advanced, they are shots. They out shot a lot of opponents for a bottom 5 team.

You also could make the argument that the trade did nothing for them, if they didn't have Brendan Lemiuex and Jack Roslovic who haven't even suited up yet

Possession stats are relatively new but don't really feel like having a debate over it.

Lemiuex more than likely is a 4th liner who tops out at Brad May (maybe), not sure I lose much sleep over it. My point is, everyone is saying now horrible a trade it was for us but no one ever points out that its pretty much the same on the other side as well.

I'm gonna venture you have never seen Lemiuex play if you think his ceiling is a 4th liner. He's well over a PPG in juniors and scored a few goals in his first few AHL games.

He's definitely an NHLer
Yet to be determined if he'll be able to score as a pro
Bc of his physical play,
He'll at least slot into the lineup somewhere for them
Lots of good scorers in juniors end up being role players in the NHL
I didn't hate when we took him...
But I did want Barbashev
I think he went a few picks later
I was pretty disappointed with how those 2nd round pick went for us
