i'm as pissed as anybody about kane...don't like that Johnson left and am not overly thrilled with the defense...

this will be the last year i'm saying this--if the sabres miss out on the playoffs, I won't be ticked...I won't be thrilled, but I understand that building from scratch, especially the way murray did by speeding things up through trades for young vets, can cause set-backs...because of those it might take a couple of years for the rebuild to gain traction...

but the core he has in place--Eichel, o'reilly, risto, and skunk,among others--is a pretty solid core

Taking steps to improve the offense is most needed (hopefully Okposo helps...I'm not convinced but hope to be wrong) considering where the team ranked last year in offensive/defensive stats.

Not much of a move, but the defense didn't get worse I don't imagine, and Kulikov I assume (I don't know much about him) is an upgrade to the middle pairing range on the team.

Middle of the pack in the NHL if I recall last year, and they haven't done anything to get worse IMO (on paper of course, which is what stat nerds live by)

Im a huge risto fan but bona fide is a stretch. Gorges just doesnt have it anymore and neither kuli nor bogo can handle top pairing minutes and matchups against the other teams top line. It's better, but it's not good enough yet.

The 3rd rounder for Vesey doesn't bother me. They had almost too many picks, and couldn't sign everybody to pro deals. It's essentially gambling with house money.

Other than the O'Reilly trade, of which to me the return still seems a little high considering it should have been Colorado negotiating from a position of weakness, everything has been a question mark.

Id like that. Random thought but if they start out really poorly this year (like on pace to finish as bad or worse than last year) do they fire Bylsma? Might be what TM has to do to save his job in that scenario.
