Yes. A right D would be great and ideally the Oilers can address that need but you don't sit a significantly better player just for the slight advantage being right handed offers. Especially when we are talking about third pairing minutes.

At this point, play the better player.

Also, Chiarelli sucks. He has overpaid huge for the three defenders he has added. Rienhart might never be an NHL player but we paid a ton for him. Sekeras is a solid 3-4 guy but he gets 5.5 mil with a NTC and on a long term deal. Then Larsson is picked up at the cost of their most consistent and highest point producing forward. Larsson might be good but he hasn't shown that yet. There were many good FA defenders and they landed none.

You contradict yourself so much in this post! Its as if you're arguing for points a and b, but you think that c and d are better. THEN, you go back to saying a and b are good. No chronological order, no organization of context at all either. Plus, Larsson is ours now, so if you wanna continue to be a "hallfan" switch your fav team to NJ.

In all seriousness, the RHD vs LHD is hitting serious notes nowadays. It is a huge factor to consider in todays game of hockey. Why do you think Edmonton has taken a lot of RHD prospects in the previous drafts? They need to balance out their system!

What about signing both gryba and winny ? Two right handers you have the cap space ,and if it doesn't work out possible trade deadline pieces, barring injuries I think this team makes the playoffs imo,so you might be adding by then hopefully for you fans! that also gives alot of depth on the right side,and don't forget two righties don't make a wrongy . ....I'll show myself out and delete my account 😨

The simple point of the matter is that handedness does matter. PC, and I believe TMc, have both mentioned that playing proper sides is greatly preferred.
These are guys from different organizations saying these things.

I think that it was Gregor that showed the statistical analysis on how much proper handedness mattered. It basically showed that the guy playing off hand is a pairing worse.

I do get your point about not being as concerned with 3rd pairing minutes, but this team just isn't good enough to not care.
