Scrivens apparently said Klefboms comments about Hall were true. "He (Klefbom) would know pretty well, he played with him (Hall) for a while, and I can't say he's wrong." Plenty of smoke rising.

Looking forward to reading what Klef has to say about Eberle and Yak once they're sent packing.

Kind of curious. Maybe he wasn't well liked but I don't think it hampered his or the teams performance. There were plenty of other reasons why the Oil sucked.

Except that there have already been articles looking into this showing it to be untrue and Hall scored just as much against "good" teams as bad.

People need to stop searching for justification for this trade. It sucked. Period.

Odd because the articles I saw supported the idea. That being said, the same criticism applied to most players on the team (excluding Klefbom, McDavid, and one other that I don't recall).

Articles referring to the Hall/not liked rumours or articles concerning the Hall/Larsson trade?

Can't recall who dug into it but they showed it to be false. Not worth my time to look it up.

People will say whatever they want anyways to justify it.

poopty trade no matter how it's justified.

It had to happen. We weren't getting a 23 year old, right shot, 1st pairing dman, on a longterm deal, with a great cap hit otherwise. Plus we signed Lucic to play in Hall's spot. Larsson + Lucic > Hall every day of the week. You need to get over it. We're gonna be a far better hockey team now because of it.

Seems not only me and Hendo thinking PC is poop. Lowetide and his followers seem to be coming to the realization PC is a bad GM. More and more finally being realists.

Except that Lucic didn't get signed to take Halls spot. Lucic will probably play with McDavid. Who is going to drive the other line?

Pou/Nuge/Ebs getting back to what once they were a year and a half ago is our best hope.

If they don't succeed we are in trouble. If Talbot goes down we are in trouble. If Klefbom can't stay healthy we are in trouble.

If any teams starting goalie or 1st pairing dman gets injured they're in trouble. That's the way it goes.

Yeah but in the case of the Oilers it's Chias fault cause he's a bad GM for making moves MacT never had the balls to make.

Give the trade a year to see how it goes.
Technically, this trade can either end up as good or bad depending on how Larsson fully develops.

Wait until next year before you criticize PC about the Hall/Larsson trade.

Pouliot- Nuge- Draisaitl could be a more than capable line. So too could Maroon- Nuge- Eberle, Maroon- Draisaitl- Eberle, Pouliot- Nuge- Puljujarvi, and Pouliot- Draisaitl- Yak. If they decide to spread the love Lucic- Draisaitl- Pakarinen could run a great cycle game. Every line doesn't NEED to be "carried", more lines succeed with mutual contributions that lead to success than have one player carrying the whole line.

No, he and others are free to criticize it now. They won't be right for doing so, but nor are those who side firmly in the praise Chiarelli camp.

no, you can criticize it now, its warranted to be fully criticized. Depending on how good Larsson is/becomes, then you can begin to justify the trade, but even then, it can still be criticized for selling off an elite level talent just for a position of need.

Even if Larsson wins the Norris and is a Conn Smythe winner, you can still criticize the nature of the trade...it becomes justified because of the results, but doesnt change the facts of why and how the trade went down

Why it went down: There was a terrible need on the right side. No team was willing to trade on to Edm w/o a greater than fair price being paid.

How it went down: Barrie was not on the market. Shattenkirk was not likely to resign. Hamonic wasn't available anymore. Trouba is supposedly asking for too much to resign, and is likely not really on the market. UFAs were not willing to sign. NJ was willing to trade Larsson but the price, as explained in the "Why" section, was a steep price, but it was necessary. Some thing needed to be done and PC finally did something.

Criticize later, it is just complaining about something being done, after whining that something needed to be done.

"Just for a position of need" is underselling the point when that position of need is top pairing Dman. I could paint the trade with the opposite brush by saying the Oilers traded their 2nd best player at a position they already had a replacement for in exchange for a young, top pairing Dman on a great contract which, in turn, filled a long-standing need.

Neither side can fully justify their position until there are some post-trade results to operate off. Until we get those results, neither side is right and neither side is wrong.
