Why it went down: There was a terrible need on the right side. No team was willing to trade on to Edm w/o a greater than fair price being paid.

How it went down: Barrie was not on the market. Shattenkirk was not likely to resign. Hamonic wasn't available anymore. Trouba is supposedly asking for too much to resign, and is likely not really on the market. UFAs were not willing to sign. NJ was willing to trade Larsson but the price, as explained in the "Why" section, was a steep price, but it was necessary. Some thing needed to be done and PC finally did something.

Criticize later, it is just complaining about something being done, after whining that something needed to be done.

I think that it was a basically done deal that was contingent on the Lucic signing. So when PC knew Lucic was going to sign then the deal was finalized. So put me in the former.

Hall+Demers was possible, but I don't think it was the actual case. There was absolutely no traction to Demers signing after he visited Edm. So I think it added to the desire to do the Hall deal before 07/01.

Is it not possible that he figured there'd be a greater negative reaction if he admitted he only traded Hall because Lucic was coming? That might paint the picture that he wasn't shopping any of the other young pieces.

Exactly. No one has any (frank)ing clue, other than the GM's who talk to each other, who could have been had for who. All assumptions. Of course trading Hall stings to Oilers fans, but so does being a poopty ass team and the brunt of criticism from just about every fan base for that length of time. Is it gonna be any worse after making this deal?
Chia made a trade from a position of strength and depth to fill a position of need. Keeping the same group together for so long clearly wasn't working. So something is done and people still whine, female dog and complain, and the team hasn't even played a single game since it happened.

Obviously if everything you have always done, and has been instinctual hasn't brought you success, then doing the opposite is what you should do. It worked pretty well for George Costanza

I never mentioned Hall had to go because Lucic.

The Larsson trade was more dependent upon Demers. See how I mention that after Demers and Lucic were in YEG there was no more chatter about Demers to Edm.

Since that boat had sailed, and the only way to get a Top 2 RHD was to trade Hall he made the call.

So, again, where has PC said anything that opposes what I think happened?
