Let me preface this by saying I really love Vancouver, and miss it all the time.

I moved to the maritimes awhile back, what a (frank)ing place. If you can handle heavy snow in the winter, real estate is dirt cheap. You get 4 bed 4 bath modern homes on the ocean with a private beach for less than $500K. You can get just a base house maybe 4 beds 1 bath for quite a bit less than $200K. Warmest salt water north of the Carolinas.

It's always nice having East loving Nucks fans moving into our neighborhoods. Such a blessing

Benning and Linden have put a lot of blood sweat and love into this team,I think Canuck fans will be surprised this year.

If not let's go Vegas?

- VANTEL

They have. I think more than a few will be surprised this upcoming year.

A good Pinot is amazing, but they can be hard to find if you're going in blind. I think I'm disappointed by Pinot Noir more than any other varietal. It's not necessarily a price thing, there's some good bottles for reasonable, it's more like a needle in the haystack kind of thing. If you've found one you like, keep returning to that well.
- CubanBuffet

Agree on both counts.

I'm early forties, I drink beer, wine, scotch. I've been drinking wine since I was 12, at dinner on special occasions back then. I'd probably drink more wine but my taste exceeds my income, although I do make decent money. I was fortunate enough to have a bachelor uncle that collected wine, as did my father.

My uncle donated a case to a charity auction once and it went for $15K......he was quite surprised.

I hear you. I have been drinking red wine as far back as I can remember. I grew up with a fully Italian Grandmother so table wine was always available with meals. And man do I miss her traditional cooking. Even the best Italian restaurants around central Alberta here don't come close...

My wife and I got married in Napa a couple of years ago and we just finished the last bottle we brought back with us.

What was your best value find for bold reds in NAPA?

It's pretty much year round down here but I'm not sure how much longer I'll be doing
It for. It's good pay but hard work of the back breaking variety. I do have a degree that I could dust off.

We were thinking of settling in the Okanagan but who knows, maybe we can keep going east.

- CubanBuffet

The Okanagan is the place to be. Or the Comox Valley on the Island…love it there as well.

Me too. Lived in Courtenay for almost 2 years and have always looked at going back. But the Okanagan really is the priority for me hopefully in 4-5 years.

I never lived there. I just dated a girl that lived there. I was out there one week a month for almost 2 years.

My now fiancee has been talking about going out west when she finishes school next year. I have lots of family out in Burnaby and Vancouver but no one on the island.

Fastest growing community on the island. Over 25% of the population is under 18. A brewery, expanded pizza restuarant and a new taco shop. The Waverley Hotel has undergone a huge reno and we had a fly fishing shop open this spring. Village council is establishing the zoning and bylaws for marijuana dispensaries. Also, Cumberland has quickly become an international mountain biking destination.

Courtenay is strip malls and closed stores.
Comox is full of angry old people.

I love a good Pinot. The gentle 'ball-cupper' of reds.

When I first moved here, there were two camps, red necks & hippies. Red necks were the generational folk that have been here forever and the hippies were the new people arriving. But since the real estate chaos in Vancouver, a new group is infiltrating. Self-entitled yuppies.

Funny, I was born there. You forgot to mention that Cumberland is also the Lucky Beer capital of the world, lol.
