His must've been grade 3, total rupture of the ligaments. Hopefully not what Eichel has. - Sabresfan-365
I had a grade 2 with a broken ankle in HS, and it took nearly 4 months to fully recover. |

I'm willing to bet Eichel will be back by mid December at the latest. Most likely first or second week of December. It's a huge blow but I guess it's better than the season. Although if Lehner blows and we get more injuries ours might be over before Eichel even gets on the ice.. |

WTF!!! I can't just sit back and watch this anymore.
What have you seen about Lehner's game that makes you think he might blow?
This preseason he has come into camp terrifically fit, and has played lights out. He has like a 0.960sv% and a 1.33 GAA - granted its preseason. But even last year, while he didn't get a ton of games, he didn't BLOW when he was healthy, he played really really well.
In fact, the pessimists who say the Defense is going to blow try to dance away from the relatively strong defensive team stats the Sabres achieved last year by pointing to outstanding goaltending as the cause of the overall strong defense.
Man it's tough in this godaamn thread. |

Which are?
Being ranked 16th in something is actually in the bottom half.
I think Lehner is probably a really good goalie. |

I also go back to last year's Eastern Conference Finals where Ben Bishop was screaming and rolling around as if he got shot by a sniper perched above the press box. He was the backup later in the series. - buffalofan19
Finally some realism. They hurt like a mother(frank)er when they happen, you'll roar when it happens because it's scary to hear your ankle pop and grind, you can't put any weight on it for a day or so, 2 at the most and then a few weeks later you're back to normal-ish, and a few weeks after that you're back to full speed in sports. Plus skates other than goalie skates are essentially ankle braces. Lehner was 40 lbs overweight.
It sucks that he'll be out until Thanksgiving probably. Hopefully the imaging comes back and it's nothing that requires surgery.
Anyone who thinks they can diagnose someone from a video is a charlatan. He clearly grabs at his knee, but really he's trying to grab his ankle. Videos lie sometimes. |

Life is a bugger sometimes. Jack got hurt which sucks for us Sabre fans but so be it. Crosby has potentially a career ending 3rd concussion yet you don't hear Penguins fans jumping from the bridges. Obviously we won't be as good as we would be if Jack was in the line-up. However, this is a great opportunity for others to shine and step-up. One of Bailey or Nylander will be called to the big squad which should be exciting. Plus Jack's injury might be used as a rallying cry for the rest of the team.

A former boss had a great line for me when I tried poop like this on him. It went like this:
"No matter how thin you slice it, it's still baloney, and it still has two sides." |

In theory 16th in the league could get you in the playoffs... |

I don't even know what this is supposed to mean. We weren't relatively strong.
Our goaltending was very good, and a healthy Lehner will probably be very good.

I'm pretty sure Crosby was back at practice yesterday.
Edit: went hard before practice. Went today too. If you have a bad concussion you simply can't do that. If you made it out onto the ice at all you'd be puking your guts out after about 12 seconds.

Doble edit: As much as I love ROR, Malkin he is not. Pittsburgh is the only team who can lose a Hart trophy center and replace him with another. |

Again, I'm not any good with this analytics, but if it's a poop sandwich and you piss and moan doesn't that turn it into more of a poop/piss casserole? - SomeoneGerman

Pull Tyler Ennis into TM's Office,
Explain how tremendous of an opportunity this will be for him and his career!
Okposo/O'Reilly/Reinhart
Kane/Ennis/Reinhart
Foligno/Grant/Gionta
Moulson/Larson/Girgensons
If Moulson pulls a Ville Leino , Bring DLow the Destroyer in |

Like this but i wouldn't take Larsson away from gionta a Foligno, they were really good together 2nd half. Switch Grant with him. |

Tough day for Sabres fans eh boys?
Hopefully Jack is a fast healer. Injuries happen, it's a big part of hockey nowadays. Depth at all positions is more important than ever, gotta soldier on. I heard even Okposo got hurt at the end of practice, hope I heard that wrong.
Looks like Fasching and Grant will get their chance. I would recall Nylander too.
Assuming OK is out too, just a guess at the lines.
