Excellent write-up Michael. I am hopeful for this team and year as well but I see their upside at 90 points, not 95.

While we all want the Sabres to push for the playoffs this year, I think they are still one-year out. If they sneak into the playoffs, it will be as the #3 seed in the Atlantic. They are going to be losing a lot of salary off the books after this season, including one of Moulson, Kane or Gorges who will get taken by Vegas. This will allow Murray to sign our new core moving forward and add the appropriate pieces to the team through FA and trades.

I think they have a shot with or without it. I think it increases if they get a better one, but I don't think it's the deciding factor. For me that's the offense. If they score 0-1 goals in a lot of their games again it'll be hard to win. This team needs to score at least 2 in most of their games and hit that 3+ mark more than they were. If they do that and the defense can't hold their own I'll agree on that needed piece.
