McLeod as a healthy scratch. Have our dreams come true? Really starting to like this Bednar guy now.

On the down side that bottom 6 still looks pretty weak.

Not sure I like the center depth here. In previous year's everyone talked about how deep we were. Not sure I see it this year with this line-up. For that matter we seem thin on the right-side as well since we moved Duchene there and only have 4 right-handed shots amongst our forwards.

Hoping Rantanen is able to play and put him on the second line, allowing us to shift players down and shift Ben Smith to RW and sit Comeau. I have never been a big fan of his and let's face facts, he didn't stick with the Penguins up-tempo style of player, is he going to fit ours?

Excited to start the season, but concerned about the depth we have right now.

If he was really as smart as we had hoped, Tyutin would be sitting right next to McLeod. At least he has big expectations for Rants..........

If Rants is ready to go...still not ruled out for game 1, Then those lines will be all jumbled up again.

The lines wont last for long, they never do so im not too worried about them going into game 1

Not sure what you were watching last year but Comeau had a really solid year. Good mix of speed and grit with a bit of offensive upside. He should never be healthied for a guy like Ben Smith who I like but will probably end up being sent down within the next month. I'd like to see the lines something like this:

Grigorenko--Mackinnon--Duchene
Landeskog--Soderberg--Rantanen (when healthy)
Comeau (listed as LW on hockey db)--Colborne--Iginla
Martinsen--Mitchell (when healthy)--R Bourque
(flip flop Iggy and Rene depending on how iggy's wheels are looking)

I agree, Comeau was a solid player last year. 36 points, played up and down the Top 9, was really good on the PK. There is nothing wrong with him as a 3rd line guy

I also think whoever the other winger is Mack and Duchene should be left together all year. Their speed really compliments each other. No matter what the skill of the player is if they aren't playing with someone of comparable speed it just doesn't work. For example I thought Lucic looked bad last night. Can't skate with Mcjesus and Eberle at all. Saw him doing a lot of standing around flat footed looking mesmerized or way behind the play on the back check. Can't see him sticking on that top line for long.

I don't mind these lines. I wonder how iggy will look with mack. Will speed he an issue there? Also I don't see these being the lines by the end of the year. I would like to see a grigs 3C line with Colburn and Comeau, then added a compher or Greer possibly later on this year. But in also looking at it like "bedner is a new face, with a new system so im curious to see these lines play in his system." Plus defense will be better!

The games I saw he was a step slower than others and did nothing for the possession game. Granted I didn't watch every game, but I just don't like his game when it comes to a speed system.

Not saying Ben Smith is the answer either, but I have seen Comeau play and am willing to move on and plug someone else in. As far as 36 points goes, he will never get that on the 4th line so it is a non factor unless he moves to the 3rd line and gets at least 12 min a game.

Disagree with Comeau not helping with the possession game. He is suppression shots against the Avs, since he is good defensively


Avs top possession players 5v5 were
MacKinnon at 46.36 cf% next was comeau at 46.15.

So I don't know where you are getting your info about comeau being bad for the avs possession issues
