Elliott's svpsct is above 5. FIVE. He has looked terrible. Note Johnson plays their third game and how many did he give up?
Yes it is early. But what is the same story line with Elliott? He takes the mantel and sinks. The other goalie outplays him. He then starts playing better with a chip on his shoulder and only as a back up for so many games in a row before he slides back down with one abberation occurring last year. On bad defensive teams he played his way nearly out of the NHL. He has a lot of weaknesses and the Blues learned to play to them to protect him most of the time.
Krieder was great that game. Hard to truly rate the Blues when they were missing so many players for such a long period of time in a third game in four days.
Every chance to take a crack out of whiners that ask for trades who dare to not be, you know, grateful will be taken. No Blues Elliott is ut of the NHL probably done playing by now.

A couple other notes from the game:
-The Blues didn't register a single shot on goal in the 3rd period, and only 1 shot attempt. That's a dangerous game to play, and it won't work every night.
-Kevin Hayes, who was apparently invisible, was a +6 on the night in 5v5 corsi differential. He also only played 13:40 on the night, with a peculiar 2:28 of it coming shorthanded. He seemed invisible because he wasn't on the ice much. When he was, he was clearly an effective player. |

Given the Blues won't be playing their 3rd game in 4 nights with only 9 forwards and 5 defensemen every night, I don't think anyone here is worried about that. |

Seems to ignore the effect that teammates have on a goalie's play. There aught to be a modifier for shots off of rebounds that would give goalies who have better rebound control an advantage, though if defensemen clear those rebounds... |

easy Rattie or Paajarvi and if they get claimed good
This team has a logjam in the bottom 6 and some guys are going to be exposed to waivers
I doubt Schwartz is back tomorrow my guess is the end of the trip |

Blues goalies are generally being beaten to the glove side so far this year. This may bear watching. - Jason Millen

Assuming rattie given yakupov's arrival. Jaskin and paajarvi are both more versatile. |

Yeah the Blues were playing their third game in four nights and were missing three players fairly early into the game. The first to go caused centermen to get double shifted from the second period on. The next to go caused there to be only three lines and Reaves and this happened twoards the end of the second period. So when it came to the third period, now also down a defender the Blues were on fumes.
So when the Blues go from a dominant team in Corsi to beatable and a ready explanation is available I think you can easily identify the corollary, at least I hope you can.
If you fail to noitce that scoreboard plus your defense sucks and will be the weakness of yur team. Be grateful one of the anchors on your defense will be out some time. But what happens when your decent to one of the two good defenders you have on your team gets injured for significant time? Plus King Henry is fresh now but by the time the okay offs start? Probably not. Then you have to wonder how a forward group so talented failed to score off a extremely depleted and tired team and realize that your team's forward core is not as good as Dallas with a broken or injured Lundquvist means your team is unlikely, unless a number of things go right for them, to make it out of the first round of thenokay offs, if they can avoid significant injuries that could jeapordize their making said play offs. |

They put him on waivers at the end of camp. Shocked someone like Edmnton takes Russell but passes on him. |

If Schwartz is coming back earlier it is because a significant forward is injured. I think the Blues want to see Rattie in at least one game before deciding on him. |

If there is any truth to Arizona's looking at Shattenkirk the Blues have to find a way to get Keller. At least Dvorak plus. But Keller definitely. Need centers. |

Hayes currently plays with Nash, who was the rangers leading shooter last year. Nash made his Corsi look better that game. I would agree though. Hayes looked invisible to me.
Good game by you guys. Tarasenko is a gem. I wouldn't be surprised if he pushed for the most goals this year. |

Didn't Hutton get beat stick side both times? If anything the goaltending has exceeded expectations so far. A lot of people were unhappy with the Hutton signing and were wanting to keep Elliott or Nilsson.
I think the goalie coaches and Brodeur know what they are doing. |
