Toffoli is one of the best young wingers in the league. He's basically Brayden Schenn but better in every single way. Moving him would require a really really big piece, but he's probably untouchable. Plus, he's a RW. It's just not good asset management for us, even if it'd be cool. Now, someone who could be had for slightly less would be Pearson, a LW. After Doughty and Muzzin, their blueline is a mess. If there is a big swap going on both ways, they'd want one of MDZ/Gudas along with a goalie. And really, it's robbing Peter to pay Paul at that point. We can't afford to lose one of them.
Once Davy Jones Hakstol gets his act together, I'm very comfortable with Raffl-Cuz-Read as our 3rd line, and even PEB-Gordon-Weise as the 4th. Our top 6 is stacked. Adding a forward doesn't really make sense. - Mononoke
dude MDZ/Gudas + Mason/Neuvirth for would be a steal we won't have one of gudas/MDZ in a few years anyway |

I don't think MDZ + Neuvirth is going to get Toffoli. He's their best offensive player who isn't pushing 30.
But I agree that a UFA like MDZ has to be expendable if the offer is right. If they weren't expendable, they should be extended. |

If they wanted Gudas + Neuvirth for Toffoli, I'd listen.
Edit: Of course, it means one of Jake/Simmer/Toffoli would have to move to LW. |

That's why I floated maybe Pearson+1st (the Kings lineup is so top heavy it's ridiculous. I wouldn't be surprised if they fall hard this season). But we need MDZ right now more than we need another 2nd line winger. Our weakness isn't scoring or our top 6 or even our top 9 wingers. It's team defense. Makes no sense. |

Would we trade someone like, say, 24 year old Wayne Simmonds for a top 4 d man and a backup goalie? Toffoli isn't the same player, but we're talking a young, elite play driving 30/60 guy. |

No way. Which is why if they wanted what you proposed ("If there is a big swap going on both ways w/ multiple pieces, they'd want one of MDZ/Gudas along with a goalie."), I'd be hard pressed to say no.
Although I think Neuvirth could be an average starter, not a backup. |

Eh, a lot of things can make sense if the GM has decided a player won't be re-signed and is willing to sacrifice some short term pain for what he hopes will be long term gain. |

I'd rather be talking to Winnipeg about Trouba or any other club about acquiring a good RH Dman, rather than talking to LA about acquiring a winger that we don't need. |

Winnipeg doesn't need a starting goalie. This is an LA-specific hole that needs to be filled. |

I hear you, but crappy start aside, I still think we are a playoff team so I wouldn't want to move either goalie right now for a winger unless the other team wants to massively overpay.
No need to expend any assets at this point either way. There will be other injuries and other teams looking to make deals as the season goes on. Besides looking at LA's roster and cap situation, I don't think they'd make a good trade partner for the Flyers anyway. |

They have no time to dilly-dally around, and they need a legit starter. If they're out of a playoff spot in 35 days they're nearly certain to not have a spot come April. |

That costs you a lot more. They'd ask for Gostisbehere or Provorov.

3 games for Dale. I don't have an issue in a vacuum with it, but my god, the consistency issues with the DoPS is pathetic and deplorable. |

The unbelievable inconsistency of DoPs is truly breathtaking. |
