We need to talk about Blackbeard Gordon's face-off stats........
.......the lowest face-off win% on the team and is 2/11 on draws when shorthanded and 7/20 in the d zone. And G and Coots and Gordon all have almost identical d zone draws per game. |

Streit needs to sit when gudas comes back - rinaldo
They're not sitting Streit, but it will be an interesting conundrum for Hakstol. Manning has definitely been playing top-6 caliber hockey and most of US saw the effect he had on Provorov's play. It's interesting to me that Hakstol really downplayed that though.
I'd sit Schultz, but that's a tough one due to his role on the PK. It's really going to be a tough call. |

Not a Shelley suite big enough to cram all that experience in |

In response to Mononoke:
If Gordon doesn't start winning faceoffs I would have no problem taking him out of the lineup. Let's face it, winning faceoffs is the main reason they signed him in the first place.

This is why I'd sit AMac, Schultz is to vital to the PK and Streit, while struggling, is still an alternate captain and a key guy on the 2nd pp unit. I would just put Ghost with Gudas when he returns and leave the other pairs alone |

This is the kind of game I was waiting for. Not ideal for them to be down 2, but there must be something about 2nd periods with this team. Really turned it on.
Manning goal was filthy. Provorov and Konecny played great. Voracek came to life. Matt f'n Read.
Still need to work things out defensively on coverages but overall very impressed with what I saw as a whole. |

Agree with all of this. The only negatives I see at this point are:
The forwards, as a group, must shorten the gaps and play better defensively
And
While I like the 2 new pairs, I still get nervous any time the Ghost/AMac pairing gets trapped in the D zone.
All in all, with 2 of their better Dmen, including their best one overall, having yet to play a game, they've done a nice job. |

Macdonald should be removed from the lineup for the entire year and streit has made some terrible plays lately. Wouldn't mind see both of them sit. Schultz has been solid under the radar, if you don't notice him that's a good thing. What a comeback by Provy. |

Yeah it's more about better defense as a team. Forwards included. I agree too, for the most part, defensive guys have done well. But who'd of thought Manning would be the standout so far?

I'm down with this. And that's a great take on Shultz. I find myself saying the same thing about him. Didn't say his name tonight, didn't screw up tonight. |

I haven't delved into the numbers, but yeah, a huge part of the Gordon signing was based on freeing up Giroux from a heavy DZ workload. It's not working thus far.
I'm also firmly on the keep Schultz in ahead of Streit and MacDonald bandwagon. This is certainly more to the "What The (frank) Is That Guy Doing?!?!?" test than numbers, but Streit has been a trainwreck and MacDonald has been way to noticeable in his gaffes.
My hope is that both Streit and Provorov were trying to do too much/simply didn't mesh and that was why both struggled as a pairing, and that Streit rebounds...but he didn't looks good last night at all. |

I'm thinking..
Ghost - Gudas
Provolone - Manning
MDZ - Shultz
Then just give the minutes to the hot pairing of the night.

Dunno who Hak will sit, but Schultz and Manning are being used the least.
MDZ and Laughton are skating at practice. |
