Do you want to trade for Trouba if he doesn't want to play for a Canadian team? Sounds like Trouba has an attitude.

Time in Utica will be good for JV. Let him develop. Big minutes in Utica.

- hillbillydeluxe

It's been needed for JV for a while, good to see imo. Don't see the value in a trade like that for us. Better to let home develop. He's only in year two and patience is the key. Way too early to judge him at this point.

So, E. Kane is healthy, after Virtanen gets the chance to show his stuff a couple id he drive away from Buffalo.

Makes ya think.

Benning's gotta do something, maybe this recent losing streak is enough to get him to pull the trigger on Kane, we all know he'd live to get ahold of him...

- Vanoxy

He's there for 2 games, how much will he improve in that time? You can't get scouted if you don't play so....?

I'm fine with keeping JV and letting him marinate; but the prospect of having Trouba is really tantalizing... Winnipeg is a HUGE stretch from Vancity in QOL.

I see what you're saying though; they have an exciting team in WINN.. why a guy would want to leave is beyond me. Laine alone is worth sticking around for.

We have seen players leave WINN before because of problems with other players in the franchise. Could that play a part? Byfuglien doesn't suffer fools.

He probably should have been sent back to junior last season. Power forwards always take more time. Now that he has a taste of the big show he thinks that he deserves to be here.
Bo played 4th line his first year in the league.

How can you fight on top of all that ice? the roads, sidewalks, everything will soon be pure ice. I am surprised people still drive cars instead of letting it snow over and drive snow mobiles.

No one is talking about mismanagement when things are good, weather it is happening or not. I used to get more worked up, but I guess I'm just mellowing in my old age, whereas you sir are turning into a grumpy old man

Willes’ Musings: The NHL’s Kadri decision stinks

— Last week we had an item about Mike Gillis’s regime in which we opined the Canucks made too many mistakes on personnel decisions and at the draft table under Gillis’s watch but his insistence on playing a speed-and-skill game ushered in the most successful era in Canucks’ history.

That seemed like a fair assessment of the Gillis years and it certainly wasn’t meant to cause offence but the former Canucks GM didn’t think so. The next morning I got a text which read, among other things, “I will be happy to tell you personally next time I see you to go (perform an act which is biologically impossible).”

At least he’ll tell me personally. That makes it special.

The subtext to Gillis’s flaming arrow, apparently, is he feels the franchise’s accomplishments from 2008 to 2014 have been marginalized. Maybe that’s true. But this is also true. Since Pat Quinn was ousted by the McCaw ownership group, the Canucks have lurched from one calamity to another and if you look at the people who’ve been in charge — from senior management to ownership — it’s little wonder the organization has been unstable and inconsistent.

At some point, the Canucks need to be guided by the principles of good governance and effective leadership. That means a thorough, level-headed approach to their problems unimpeded by emotion and histrionics; you know, the approach favoured by successful organizations.

who did Gillis send the text to? Kusma, IMac or Botch?

It was a good run, but couldn't be sustained because Gillis didnt draft well enough.

I'm sure Gillis wants to take all the credit but the Sedins were drafted by a previous regime and Gillis said when he was hired, they aren't top line players.

It takes a village to build a hockey team.

Sounds like it was sent to Ed Willes? I think that's his name at least.

Sunny and plus 20 in MB yesterday. Yes we actually get sun here. At least Manitoban's can drive if there is ice or snow on the roads. I've been there for BC winters, OMG when the snow comes the drivers are f-ing scary there.

last Sunday, I was wearing a t-shirt and shorts when I put the snow tires on the car. same on Tuesday when I was raking up the leaves. A great fall so far for much of the prairies and western Canada, unless you are in an area that is experiencing flooding.

I don't think we have seen much snow in Vancouver since the winter before the Olympics.

i can't speak to how their day to day rel'p was but i know for a fact that willes did not like gillis (at least professionally) when MG was hired.

willes didn't like the way gillis was hired and felt that gillis manipulated/convinced/politicked francesco into firing nonis.

i think you're confusing willes with tony gallagher who could be accurately described as a gillis defender/fluffer.
