The excuse TL and JB used for not trading HAMMER was they wanted the same deal Flames were getting or didn't want to appear they would take a lesser deal for Hammer.

The appearance they wanted to avoid was not to look weak. Like allow other GM's to think New regime will trade no matter what the asset position, even a UFA, at tdl just because you offer whatever. They wanted to be known they won't get intimidated or taken advantage of excuse and would only accept a fair value deal.

Anyway whatever their reasoning they should have gotten something for Hammer at that point. Unless they thought they were going to resign him up until Guddy deal. Even then not having would have made Guddy deal more pressing. So they should have traded him.

We are going to have A LOT of 1 goal games this year.

Van really doesn't have a lot to trade. The Sedin's aren't going anywhere. Loui isn't going to be traded after one year. That leaves basically Hansen, Edler, Tanev, Dorsett, Sbisa. Everyone else is not worth anything or young enough they won't be traded.
