Did anyone catch this gem from Friedman?
"Gerard Gallant would never admit it (at least not before Sunday), but he hated seeing Erik Gudbranson traded. In a cap world, someone had to go. Losing him and Willie Mitchell changed the complexion of the blue line. Gallant valued Gudbranson’s game, how hard he could make it on opposing forwards. But Florida’s front office values a different kind of defender, and with one season remaining until his free agency, they weren’t going to ante up for Gudbranson’s skillset."
From what I gathered, that trade caused the same degree of uproar in Florida as it did on the Hockeybuzz comments board. |

Price is the best goalie in the world. The problem is, the price to acquire him would be astronomical and he is 25 and in his prime now, we would not be able to offer him a competitive time in his winning time frame. - Codes1087
Schneider is among the best in the world, hasnt helped NJ make the playoffs. Even if the cost was reasonable, its just more lipstick on a pig |

it is not a serious conversation at all. Someone had suggested that Price and Gallagher be targets and I simply said that it would be an astronomical price to pay for either player. - Codes1087
Not astronomical. Impossible. Right now, there would be nothing you get in return that makes that team better now. |

Specifcally referring to Price, not Gallager. |

I only brought it up as 2 players from mtl that I would like on Canucks Price I was only kidding about, that ship sailed back when Luongo for Price rumours of yesteryear.
It evolved from a discussion on Derek Dorsett...believe it or not. |

I would do that trade 100 times over. See how we are not complaining about the D |

The last thing I would want to be is a weak team with an elite goaltender. It's pretty embarrassing for Montreal that they haven't been able to build a team that can win around Price, might not too many years of his prime left especially with injuries and such. |

Sometimes I wish we had McCann still in the pipeline, only because its been a while since we had someone with a shot like his. But Boeser can shoot and Gudbranson is young enough to be around a while. Never complained about the deal, and wouldnt be opposed to doing it over again, picks and all |

And how many cups have they won with him? How many finals have they been to?
Your goalie can only carry you so far. They keep leaning on him to win a series or 2 for them and then they lose to teams with superior depth. |

Agreed with the depth issues. I think building a team with an elite goalie makes it a lot tougher, because they wont let you bottom out with an average team in front of them, which then prevents you from picking higher in the draft so you need to make trades to acquire top players. Its obviously been done, but I think the net-out construction of the team is a challenging one to do these days |

my point was to emphasize how the Canucks have too many problems that even the best goalie wouldnt be able to fix - WhiteLie
Would Gaunce and Columbus's 2nd be enough for Price? |

How many cups have Nashville won with Rinne and Weber or OV and Holtby or Luongo and the twins? |

I assume Vancouver's second will be higher, so make it that and youve got a deal |

I saw this...Florida's fan/fans were horrified by the trade. Gudbranson has been a bit disappointing so far as he hasn't been nearly as physical as he was in Florida...Why has he stopped cross checking and fighting? Regardless, I still like the trade. |

Demko, Boeser, Horvat, Juolevi and our 2017 and 2018 first round picks? Would that be enough? |

Boeser's shot is easily superior to McCann's. Virtanen's used to be |
