People need to get realistic with JV. Just let him develop and in a few years he will be good enough. I get he couldn't be in the ahl last year but now he can. Question - if he played 10 games already is that another year of his entry level contract? Or did it start anyway as he played a lot last year?

Why? They didn't overplay him or use him in wrong situations. They trained him personally made sure he ate well , kept an eye on his ice time.

They can't control if he is going to the bar every night and getting pissed drunk.

That's the only reason I've stayed single for 40+ years and hire hookers... at least you can kick the hooker out before dawn and not feel guilty about making her breakfast. Not to mention, you aren't paying for talking

I think JV still bottoms out as a 3rd line RW that puts up decent pts and forechecks/hits and is responsible defensively. I wouldn't give him up for anything less than an upgrade, which means package deal.

Does he have low PPG in both NHL and AHL?
Is he always being talked about in the media and here?
Is he always a healthy scratch when he is here?

I meant that he made the nhl out of junior which is already unusual. Seems to have gone to his head. As opposed to working his way up working hard the whole way.
This is supported by the fact BOTH players making the nhl from junior arent on the parent team anymore

Something went wrong over the summer training. Cardio not high enough over muscle build? Then his training camp was a disaster. Seemed after that WD just didn't trust him enough. Threw on the leash and after team went into tail spin he couldn't earn his way out of it.

JV sure seemed humble after WJC and roasting he got. Then played great second half with Bo and Baer. Don't know about bad attitude it seems to be used easily for prideful athletes that stumble.

Personally, the amount of little red flags I've noticed with JV is concerning. Mature and metally, he's not in a good place.

Lost his composure in the WJC and played like a punk chained to the penalty box.

Team mates are lecturing him about being a pro off the ice.

His predatory hit over pretty much nothing and lead to a suspension.

Calling out his captain to the media.

Seemed to be blaming the coach for his season start...again to the media.

And yet again, drops more comments to the media just a couple of days ago.

People can argue against all these individual somewhat petty issues but collectively, it shows he has a punk attitude at this point. I'm starting to be suspect of what kind of lockerroom presence he's going to be down the road. Positive or negative?
