its crazy here sometimes. Every player that gets good people here want to trade away - SMBDragon
It's not that. Think of it like Edmonton and Nashville. They had excess of one thing and lacking in other areas. Van has D. We have found out we could probably spare 1 or 2. |

The tank nation full rebuild strip it down argument. Why be surprised by that - Nuck4U
I'm a build on the fly kind of guy. It's already started. Going to be occasional bumps in the road but going to get there. |

Biega was solid and got an assist. Tree didn't miss a beat with new partner. Granlund is doing more then anyone expected. Not waiver wire fodder which is an undervalue assessment by our angry poster of the night. - Nuck4U
I didnt say anything about Granlund. I called Baertschi waiver wire fodder. I've never had a problem with Granlund. When everyone was pulling their hair out at the Shink trade, I believe I took a level headed wait and see approach and posted the suggestion that everyone else do the same.
It would suck to lose Granlund to expansion. His roster spot is secure, but he's not a top 6 forward on a contending team. I feel like the 7 protection spots for forwards should be used on guys who are, or can be, top 6 guys on a contending team.
I am not advocating trading Markus Granlund for Anthony Mantha, not that I think the canucks would be better off for it (they would) but because I always look at the other side, and Detroit's not taking that deal. But, if we were to somehow acquire a player like Anthony Mantha, I would protect him over Granlund even though MG is the better player today. |

Will be hard to choose between Baerschi or Granlund on who to protect. Only way to keep both is to trade Hansen really. - Retinalz
Yup, get assets in trading Hansen, instead of losing a 24 year old to protect a 31 year old on a team that is "retooling" |

This is my second problem, you guys overvalue canucks players. Baertschi is basically waiver-wire fodder. He's on the "second line" because we dont have a better option. - Max.Betts
So a player that is on pace for just shy of 40 pts(could be less could be more, never know when a player will run hot or cold) is waiver-wire fodder? nice one... you're a 'special' one.
because you prob need it spelled out.
in an 82 game season he is on pace for 36 points. That is high end 3rd line point production, almost low end 2nd line production. If we put him on waivers he would get taken and i doubt many teams would pass him up in the bottom 10. |

Okay. Seems like you combined a couple answers on issues brought up by other posters. As for trades JB is not doing any. By his words he's going to develop what we have. Specifically mentioned Baertchi. So they don't see him as waiver wire fodder.
The plan as I get from their comments and actions is team has made its moves for now. They have prospects in the pipeline and will draft more quality picks. In the mean time will keep what vets they have to develop the mid tier young guys they traded/signed to add in. Then bring up when ready the group of young players under 20. Bo leads the way as face of the younger core.
It's their rebuild/retool plan. Trades on hold. No stocking up draft picks. Assets will stay to compete and develop new emerging core. Draft position not a concern. |

maybe not with you Im meaning theres a lot of that train around here.
Lets say for example we did trade for Kane. After he plays a few games and maybe scores a nice goal people will want to trade him will his value is up. They seem to want a revolving door of constant trades, keeping no talent lol. |

Lol they can keep that up but JB is standing pat on player moves. This is the JB plan to have the injured return. Here is what it could look like.
Sedins plus Rodin ( three crown with a speedster and shooter?)
Baer + Bo + LE ( 1st line to be?)
Granlund + Sutter + Hanson ( shut down and chip in)
Burrows + Guance + Skille/Chaput (grit or greasy?)
Edler + Stecher (More offense?)
Tree + Tanev (shut down & allow for offense from Tree?)
Hutton + Guddy ( More impact with manageable minutes?)
Sbisa rotates in.
Biega sits. |

Have you watched Drouin play? Tanev and a 2nd for Drouin maybe. Maybe. - neem55
I thought Tanev was this defensive prodigy from all the effusive praise the guy gets... especially over the summer...
I guess he's gone down a notch... but then again Taylor Hall for Larsson (sp?) shows that maybe d-men are a higher value commodity... |

Methot is Karlsson's Right (left) hand man.
Phaneuf must be protected.
That means they have to choose between Ceci and Methot. - Max.Betts
I am not sure but I thought once a player with a NMC is traded they no longer have a NMC

Sbisa needs two more games to be draft complient
My money is on Rodin back in 16-17 more games |

What a joke!
A 5-1 win with goals from 4th line plugs and a defensive defenseman and it's "we need a coaching change!" |
