Thanks Carol!

I thought Pedan is exempt from Waivers until he has played 10 games or been on the NHL roster for 30 days? Or is that only the case for emergency recall?

That was my understanding as well.

A player does not need to pass through waivers if the player has not been on the NHL active roster for a cumulative 30 days since last clearing waivers, and has not played in 10 or more NHL games. CBA Reference 13.2(b)

While I wasn't for the longest time, I am now on board with trading Tanev IF we can get a large return. Chronic injuries and the kinds that keep you out longer than estimates and re-estimates say you should be out are something to avoid in a player. We should maximize the return on him in case these problems persist for years.

Thanks for the link. I was thinking that was only for emergency recalls, but it looks like you're right. In that case, Pedan is safe for 10 games or 30 days, but Chaput and Megna will need to clear if/when they are sent back down, right?

I'll go change the main blog. Much appreciated!

Tanev and Edler should be placed in a glass case that reads:

'break in the event of games vs the bottom 10 eastern teams'.

Either one will never see a full season again and I'm starting to wonder on Hansen too seems a bit fragile.

It is what it is.

5-2 Bolts tonight and now that Garrison and Drouin are back each should log a goal as we are doormat for returning players.

Thx again Carol you are a ray of sunshine in another bottom 5 year.

Same. Although not because of injuries, more out of positional need.

Pretty sure they mean 10 games during a particular recall, not 10 career games.

Injuries happen to all sorts of players for all sorts or reasons. Getting rid of a player because he has had a few injuries is a bad idea. If they have a specific nagging injury perhaps but this is an ankle sprain, one of the most common injuries in hockey and I don't see how you can call it chronic.

As far as him being out longer than expected, poop happens, that life and is certainly not a reason to move on from a player.

By all means move Tanev for the right return but I don't see how his recent injury should be seen as the reason to do so.

well. Weather Canada has predicted 10-20 cms of Snow for Vancouver Island. The city has gone into a complete panic and will probably shut down after 3cm. It will most likely turn to slush with all of the rain by sunrise.

I'm saying for me the fact that he appears to be fragile is what helps me come around to the idea of trading him.

I'm a big fan of Tanev, he's a good age, good value, etc. But if he's missing a lot of games every year then we can't be relying on him in our top pairing. If we had 2 Dmen capable of playing above him I would probably want to keep him but as I see it we need more young players and picks, and he can bring in more than anyone else on the roster.

With the idea of having Tanev available, I wonder what other teams think of him or if they counter with interest in another dman?

As far as I've read, people around the league are aware of his skill set and I've seen fans of a couple other teams talking about wanting to trade for him

It is comical how bad people react to snow on the island. The problem is that half the people don't actually prepare properly with snow tires. I am sure we won't get half as much as what they are predicating anyway, it hasn't snowed a good snow on the island in years

Yeah, she was telling me driving around last couple weeks has been treacherous not because of the weather, but because of all the people horribly prepared with terrible tires and no winter driving skills

sh1t, didn't mean to flag you.

anyway, I think Tanev would be attractive with his contract setup too.

I just wonder if some gm's would want a smaller deal (contract $) and ask for Tryamkin, Hutton or Stecher? Makes me wonder what some offers would look like.
