they should wait until they are allowed to negotiate with Gudbranson to see what he is demanding to determine which dman to move. I wanted JB to bring in some grit on d but with Tryamkin looking steady, he might be able to provide enough physicality that we could move Guddy.
I'm not sure how that would look, moving Guddy, but if it was a good return, it should be considered. - hillbillydeluxe
What would be a good return in your mind?
Guddy makes some pretty egregious mistakes.. I still think every team needs a physical Canadian leader in the defensive group, and we don't have one in the pipeline.
If you can get EG for the Tanev rate I think you sign him asap. |

Gudbranson is called upon to play the type of game where you're gonna take injuries every so often. My worry with Tanev isn't in the immediate, it's more that I think he'll take more and more injuries over the next several years. The punishment he's had to take in the Pacific division playing hard minutes isn't going to stop anytime soon. - NorthNuck
Yep, and in the playoffs Tanev gets CRUSHED over and over... It's hard to watch. |

Yeah, would be interesting to know what their value is today. If we hear that JB is shopping any of them around though everyone would think he's crazy - NorthNuck
was just thinking of negotiations, we want x player for Tanev and the other team comes back with, we are willing to do y player for Tryamkin.
I hope JB isn't pedaling either. |

Tanev looked great in the WHC as it's basically a no hit tourney.
Out here in the west...not so much.

I would be pretty stoked if JB could swing a deal for Duchene or Landeskog, Tanev's the only Dman I could see being a part of that deal. |

I was thinking, if you looked at what it cost to acquire Guddy, it would have to be better than a late 1st round pick and a 2nd rounder.
if it was a 1 for 1, I hope it was someone that could score 20 and be expected to contribute around 50 points or so.

I think they should move Gudbranson if they can't sign him to a relatively low cap hit. He looks like he is going to be a bottom pairing Dman moving forward if they have Tanev/Stecher on the right side. - belcherbd
Are you kidding me? This is Jim Benning we're talking about. He'll probably get between five and six million just because Benning made the move and he wants to reinforce his position on the masses. |

Perhaps, I hope not. He did move on from Bonino, Clendening and Vey when he realized they were not a fit so its not impossible.

I think he should be trying to flog Sutter off on Montreal. It would hurt us in the short term but considering we have Chaput now we could probably tread water.....
Sutter's NTC doesn't kick in until 2019 anyways so he would have to ask him to waive. |

I don't really want to get into the whole hitting thus a good player conversation again but the idea that the West has more hitting doesn't hold water...
11 of top 15 hitting on the teams over the past 3 seasons are from East.
The west isn't considered tougher to play in because there is more hitting but because most teams play defense. |

Who's market value is higher? If you are going to create a depth hole you would want the biggest return right? Giving up on Guddy so soon after trading for him may cause problems. Is there another like him in the system? Not really. Pedan comes close sort of but not quite. As for Tanev he's peeked. We got OJ and Brisbois coming up who play a similar game with different upsides to Tanev. But I don't think JB is trading anyone one of them. |

dunno, never heard that. but good news for him. I thought he showed well playing junior but hasn't produced much when moving up to the senior club (just going by the stats, and he is only getting limited opportunity. |

Gudbranson was is a bit more of a higherend transaction, but you're right, he did move quickly to rid himself of players that didn't work.
I think it was mentioned yesterday, he could've signed a ufa defenceman and kept McCann and the second round pick. Disappointing. |

I don't think he is for several reasons. Mostly now injury woes on D. He's closer to getting forward help back with Rodin and Hanson on the mend. |
