No man should need to endure Jack Skille Videos - VANTEL
Great story, I hope he continues to do well. Starting to take advantage of his size. |

Now there's a team that needs to fire their management group. |

WD will give second line time with whoever LE is playing with. Maybe Bo can wing him - Nuck4U
With Hansen back he should be on Sedin line and get Sutter back with Granlund-Eriksson. Or try Eriksson back with the Sedins but the Sutter experiment there is done…his game just isn't suited for the Sedin line.
I hope JB is working the phones for the soon to be firesale in COL. |

Troy (frank)ing Stecher. An undrafted player who played three seasons of college hockey where he tallied 11 points his 1st season, then 13, and 29 points in his final year.
He's played 4 games with the Comets and what, 20 games with the canucks?
And he's quikly becoming the best Dman on the canucks this season.
This team needs to stay away from signing aging free agents and just stick to filling this roster with youth... For the next 3 seasons anyway... - bloatedmosquito
Best D man last year was Ben Hutton. Finished 28 out of 30th in the league. Stecher best D man this year Currently 28 out of 30th in the league. Oh yeah youth wins hockey games. |

They need JB as their head scout. Was reading an article about their first round picks since 2011. Not good. |

I'm really excited about Cassels. He is right on his history.
i'll explain.
First year OHL 11 points
Second year OHL 43 points.
Third year OHL 73 points
Fourth year OHL 81 points
First year AHL 7 points 67 games
Second year AHL 3 points in 17 games
See from his first year to his second in junior his points quadrupled.
His first year to his second in the AHL he is projected to quadruple his point total again.
So during his 4th year in the AHL he will probably get some call ups for 4th line duties in the NHL. - manvanfan
May as well lol…might produce more than Gaunce |

This is why we needed to get rid of Bieksa Garrisson Edler Tanev Hamhuis. You could get college hockey players to be an upgrade. |

It is too bad it took him 30 games to get going but nice to see he is playing with some confidence. |

All the talk about Jake , Nylander isn't exactly setting the league on fire. 6 G 11 A playing with scoring sensationa and future HHOF Matthews.
Jake is starting to put numbers up now - VANTEL
Nylander played 75 games in the AHL. It's kind of a BS rule that europeans and college players get to play in the AHL before 20 but CHL players can't.
The rule should be changed to a teams 1st round pick is allowed to play in the AHL at 18. |

I'm not saying we give up the farm but there HAS to be a way to pry a good player out of there. It's baffling how with MacKinnon Landeskog and Duchesne they can be that bad. Has to be something going on behind the scenes there. Is their D and goaltending really that poor? |

I think Gaunce needs to go back down the same as JV and get some groove back and build off what he has learned so far this season. That's why I suggested picking up Josh Jooris. Size and speed. Can play more then just Center. |

Exactly. Patience. Jake will be productive for us just gonna take a few seasons. If we have to live with guys like Skille Megna and Chapoo for a year or two so be it. |

Agree and I was going to comment on Jooris yesterday. I was baffled when the Flames let him walk and he could help any teams 4th line…but you know how we feel about other teams scraps around here... |

You missed the point. We suck when some young rookie college player is the best player. Sbisa and Tanev at 24 were the youngest from 2014 the last time the canucks were any good. |

Sometimes other peoples scraps are better then what we have sadly. Seth Griffith I thought played really well last night for Florida. I think he could have been an upgrade over some players on Van. |

It's not about winning games at this present time. It's about building a team that can win meaningful games in the future.
I agree you need a balanced roster to be competitive and successful. But as I see it our management group seems to have a knack of finding decent prospects in the US college system. That is great news.
On the opposite end you have the same management group who's knack at finding aging free agents that fit into the current roster is not so good. Let's build on the strengths of the current management regime and get them to re-stock our prospect pool.
Regardless of our NHL record over the next few seasons, I hope some long term benefit comes out of it. Finally having a respectable prospect pool would be nice. |

Only Free agents JB has signed was Miller who has been outstanding. Vrbata had a good year and not so good year once WD decided to help the team lose. Eriksson is falling under the same category of WD trying to help the team lose. Van is only seeing the first year of the new management group new draft picks this season. JV, Tryamkin, Demko all show great promise. 3 draft picks from one year is amazing. You could count Forsling also. McCann too.
JB isn't just waiting around to see what this team may or may not have after drafting tops for 5 years. |

IMO, Benning has signed free agents based on a flawed concept. His free agent signings were not done to support the team but rather to support the twins.
Miller was signed to ensure this team had top calibre goaltending to be competitive in the final years of the twins contract.
Vrbata and Eriksson were seen as possible line mates for the twins. JB looking to find that elusive "final piece".
This team is not purposely tanking. No stealth tanking here. Every move suggests otherwise. And that's the truly scary thing about this management group.
But on the bright side they might not be re-building their NHL roster correctly but they are doing a good job at finding good prospects. |

I liked jooris as a 4th line guy ...he does the little things right and could chip in a few goals
Rangers are just very deep at forward |
