Mike Gillis...was...is...an...idiot! At least he was an intelligent idiot, unlike what we have now - LeftCoaster
I'd agree with you but can't let go of Gillis trading away things like a 1st round pick and a sniper who was about to have one hell of a rookie season for Ballard or celebrating us winning the cup before it was over... people are micro criticising JB. He's fair game on many of his decisions but he's a mere mole hill of idiocy compared to the mountain idiocy by Gillis that has lead to these dark ages we're in right now.
I think the hyper-criticisms are more a case of impatient and frustrated fans. Patience Lefty...
It would be nice to put up back to back wins more often then win lose win lose. Tonight is the first night that the next 14 games will decide the season.
Florida
Washington
Carolina
Tampa Bay
Columbus
Winnipeg
Winnipeg
Calgary
Los Angeles
Anaheim
Edmonton
Colorado
Arizona
Calgary
Need to pick up 18 out of 28 points or season is over. - manvanfan
They've got 26 points out of a possible 54 so far, they'll have to be a lot better to get 18 outta that list.

Sometimes I just say it for fun, gets a rise outta Marwood
In three years we'll have our answer on Benning, drafting is much better that's for sure....which warms my heart.
Is that the same Canucks that made him sit on the bench on national TV while a rookie played in the heritage game, or the same Luongo who thought his contract stunk and couldn't wait to get out of here? - VANTEL
That was Torts on game. He wanted Florida and they got it done.
The funny thing is, people have been complaining that Markstrom hasn't gotten enough starts so far. Now that he has the chance to carry the load, people want him to warm the bench for Demko.
It would be fun to see Demko play, but Markstrom just signed an extension for starter money. He needs to show that he's worthy before we pass the torch. Now he gets a shot.
This is huge, as far as what happens with Miller at the TDL and what the succession plan is for the next couple of years.
No need to worry. Demko will start a couple of games in Vancouver, eventually. (Maybe even more than "a couple.") - Vanoxy

Well then it starts with getting 2 tonight because this is supposedly the easier game in that schedule.

Totally agree. Gillis had no plan for the following year and did not care about that either so now Benning lives with his short-sightedness.

OK... so I understand that there are those out there who still want a tank.
Is it the smartest thing to do? Edmonton only now is showing anything reasonable and McDavid --- while yes ---- pretty cool.... is not a full team.
Toronto may need to tank for 3 or 4 more years so create a system that will help them. Sure, Marner --- a surprise --- might speed that up by a year.
Either way... I think that Tanking is fraught with peril. - Beatle_john
I'd like to hear expectations from their management beyond the tank plan. when do they expect to be competitive, how do you measure progress and whether they have had a good season?

That and I would like to know what motivates the players. Maybe only 3 or 4 have any job security or motivation to wear their crests with pride.
They can all see their contracts are up in 1 or 2 years and they are making close to minimum.
No one in management is motivated to develop these players anymore.
So with Hansen back that leaves Rodin next to come in. Could line up look like this?
Sedins + Rodin - three crowns with fast shooter
Baer + Bo + LE - going for #1 minutes
Gran + Sutter + Hansen - shut down that can chip in goals
Burr + Chaput + Skille/Megna - greasy & offense capable
Seeing how WD likes vets. Guance & LaBate sent to develop more with JV.
