Cheers thanks! Feel bad I haven't had the time to write recently but will try to get to it at least twice a week! |

Props and Flops:
Prop: Les Canadiennes won a very good game. Not many goals, but it surely was exciting!
Flop: The Bell Center management. We got to the game 5 minutes early (I recognize that is not a lot, but with a young kid, you do what you can!) and got in almost 20 minutes later and missed 10 minutes of the 1st period. When we arrived, only one door was open to let people through... did they expect so few people they thought one door would be enough? By the time we got there, there were two doors open. How hard (and costly) would it have been to have at least two doors open from the get go? |

Jennifer,
I've been intrigued by your recent articles and had a pretty "radical" idea.
How about the NHL put one top female player on each NHL all-star team roster? Talk about recognizing women's hockey, being a wonderful PR move and fostering interest in women's hockey. It's not like the NHL stars are out there hitting each other on that night.
Your thoughts? |

Lol, that's a great! I totally should have done one
Definitely agree with the Flop. The Bell Centre was not prepared. Doors should have been open earlier, more people working concessions. Also, Les Canadiennes needed more spots to sell merchandise. I understand that they kept the main boutique closed to prevent outside entry but they could have had the mini boutiques open selling Canadiens AND Canadiennes merchandise. I also think they should have done the 50/50 and had a girls team play during intermission. I know they did at night but still...

Love this idea and there are so many options on how they could do it. The NBA does a great job of including women and the WNBA at their all-star game but there is no official partnership between the NHL and CWHL / NWHL. THey would have to co-ordinate schedules far in advance because the women would not miss a regular season game for it. In basketball, the women play in the Summer so they don't have the same scheuling conflict unless they also play European ball in the offseason.

Glad I'm not the only one who realized that! I wanted to buy Canadiennes stuff and couldn't really find anything... I can always buy online, but I would have liked to see the stuff first hand and make a more educated buy.
Anyhow, thanks for blogging about women's hockey and keep on doing it (in a great way, by the way)! |
