OK I need a few of you beard wearing hipster IT types to tell me if I'm crazy.

My current TimeWarner cable bill is $210/mo. We need that to cover internet and all the essential cable TV {MSG, HBO, CNN, FOX, Bloomberg, HGTV, Bravo, Cartoon, Food, major OTA networks}. We also have a whole house DVR, with three digital sets at 1080p. I have a subscription to Amazon Prime that we use to send stuff to my daughter at college and other gifts to family around the country. We're keeping that, cause the boy will go to school as soon as she graduates.

My current internet is 30 Mbps. I can double that to 60Mbps, get rid of the cable package and the HDTV boxes, and reduce my cable bill to $60/mo.

With the faster speed, I can get 1 Roku Streaming Stick, and two Roku's Express. If I combine the existing Amazon Prime with SlingTV and NetFlix subscription, I can cover every thing except the OTA Networks and the Sabres. NHLtv will allow me to subscribe to the Sabres ($50/yr), and if I get a VPN subscription ($100) a year I'll never get blacked out. I need an OTA antenna card for the networks.

All this rolled together every month is $60 (internet); $35 (Sling) $12 (Netflix) and $15 (annualized NHLtv w/VPN). That's $122/mo - or $90/mo less than current. One time hardware cost is $70 (Streaming stick comes free with Roku subscription, two Expresses at $30/each and $10 for the antenna) so it pays for itself first month.

What am I missing? Can an old dude who can post Youtube videos and gifs manage the set up for this system?

If that's the case, I'm going to guess he is going to keep 8 skaters and a goalie. McCabe, Risto, Bogo (yes I think he'll freeze him) and Gorges. On offense O'Reilly, Kane, Okposo, and TBD.
- Mentalorgasm5

I'd think they'd be less likely to protect Bogo and Gorges and more likely to protect Larsson and Foligno.

OK I love Ryan O'Reilly just like the next person but what the hell did he do to lead this team out of the gutter when jack was out ?

And let's all not forget when Jack almost got re-injured it's like the whole team quit and then they got scored on a minute later

- GERBE!!!75PTS

Jack is the talent . not necessarily the leader atm.

When your slob-ass neighbors don't take their laundry out of the washers and dryers.

I live in an apartment complex and there's four washers and dryers and they're all full. And not one of them is on.

I went 2 years w/o cable/direct tv

it can be done, frustrating many times and lots of stuff you need to be prepared to watch a day or 2 later

after saying that, when I got cable back, it was a big relief

just try to get a package through customer retain department

don't stop til you get their third offer

my guess is by doing that you will save 25%

I believe Directv has some sort of new subscription option that allows you to watch through Apple TV without having the traditional Directv subscription. I don't know a ton about it, but a friend of mine posted something on FB about it. I'd suggest perhaps looking into that as well.

Screw direct tv. Signal is gone during rain or snow. If a cloud (storm) is 10 miles away but blocks the satellite , you lose signal. And price climbs every month

It's not the dish in your yard. It's an internet only subscription. They give you 0 equipment. Minimally, it works through Apple TV. Not sure about Roku or anything like that, but I would guess it may be able to work through those as well.

Would have to be a DSL signal through the phone lines. Fibre optic is the best but not available everywhere.
