He's 5th in points among NHL defenseman with 2 GWG. His name would certainly come up in the conversation for the Norris were it to happen today. I'm not sure why, of all the stuff Garth says, you take issue with that.

But then again, some of the previous winners werent the best all around defensemen and strictly one dimensional (ie karlsson the year he won was the last name called to kill off a penalty). So maybe there is a chance?

Seriously, if scoring was the benchmark to win a Norris trophy, then Brent Burns has it locked up. That cat has 13 goals and is at nearly a point a game pace. It's the Karlsson factor. Too many times the Norris is given to the top scorer instead of the "best" D man. I'd take Weber, Hedman, Suter, Pietrangelo, Giordano or Vlasic any day of the week
