I guess I could look it up on HockeyFights but I have to imagine that's Semins only fight, I haven't seen anyone take that kind of fight strategy since 5th grade on the playground. - smellmyfinger
It was his 2nd. Only other one was in the playoffs in the AHL. |

Did he get a fighting major or a 4 minute roughing?
That would be the icing on the cake. |

Torts was like that...probably rubbed off on Sully. Say what you will about Torts, but he did not let others take runs at his players. - mames11 As much as I hated him I respected him for that. He has Columbus playing tough now too and he knows how to play the Pens. Tonights game will get ugly.

After reading that I went to youtube and hockeyfights to see if there was video. Too bad that there's not I'm sure it would have been hilarious. |

Question from an outsider... how much of the Rangers' "passivity" comes from AV? I seem to remember Vancouver sort of playing this way too - and catching some flak for it. I'm not saying NYR should change coaches, but if an "average" someone else were their bench boss, maybe they'd be a bit more feisty? |

Rangers' issues have nothing to do with lack of "toughness." No team in the league is going to succeed with 3 of its top 6 forwards injured. |

Think its AV's style. Its why I think even bringing in a guy or two doesn't change anything. I don't want to change coaches and don't want to screw up the top 6-9 when healthy. Just wish the guys we already have would show some team toughness once in a while. |

The Rangers should absolutely change coaches. Not only is AV instilling a passive, non-passionate identity in the team, he's also a pretty bad coach. He doesn't make any in-game adjustments besides juggling forward lines, he doesn't know how to deploy the correct players for his system, and he throws certain players under the bus while others (cough Girardi cough) have never gotten any criticism. AV is perceived as great because he has a good system and has always had exceptional goaltending. He would make a great assistant, but he's an incredibly mediocre bench boss who's pretty easy to outcoach. |

Pretty much agree with this, but when something does happen would be nice to see the team give a poop once in awhile.
How many times a game do the opponents crash the net and jam away at the puck till the whistle blows even after the whistle in some cases. I don't think the Rangers have done that more than 5 times this season. Hell, Stepan hugs everyone in front of the net. I just wish our players would show a little more snarl. Not dirty, not fighting just be a pain in the ass during the game. |

I don't know if people realize how little McIlrath has played for the Panthers
the last 3 games they suited him up for he played 6 minutes each time |

I liked McIlrath as much as the next guy, but if we are all honest the only time he looked somewhat good was playing with Yandle for that short time last year.
I do hope he succeeds somewhere because he seems like a really good guy from all the interviews I watched with him. |

this is what it all boils down to (up front)
once everyone is back (pray for no other big injuries) its time to look at an upgrade using those draft picks that are burning a hole in NYR's pocket |

He just needs to play. He was shaky last season ,but got better the more he played. At least he has as many goals as McD this season. |
