If only we had a tough, young, right-shooting defenseman, who could give Klein or Girardi an odd-game off, we could give a chance to do this job... |

I have written that name so often, the blog needed some time off from including the one whose name dare not be mentioned 😄 |

That's why a guy like Simmonds is valuable to the Flyers. He can actually play. It's hard to find guys that can bring that toughness and not be a liability. Some other guys that can bring nasty and play I think are Pat Maroon, Kassian, Rousell, Corey Perry, Lucic.
But again it's tough to find guys that contribute significantly and also can bring you that toughness. |

Spot on Jan.
The Rangers have a glut of the same type of player. No more Dubi, Cally, Avery, Prust, etc. I don't know that Glass is the answer either, but he is in the system and wouldn't cost us a player or pick to bring up. No physical toughness on this team, and the rest of the NHL knows it. I'm not advocating for a goon, the game has changed as you stated.Glass did play better last year, anyone know how he is playing in Hartford? Put him on the 4th line to bring some grit and energy to the team and see how it works out until one of our IR players returns. |

Thats just it. Its a limited pool of players you can put in a top 6 role and most teams are going to hold onto that player. Also going to pay a decent amount. Your not going to find a guy like that in the middle of a season. |

I did not think this was a real problem until Hank got Hammered and nothing happened. It's inexcusable not to protect your goalie and especially if he's such a centerpiece of the teams identity. But it happens, just like with Ryan Miller getting run by Boston a couple years back.
That said this type of softness seems to be somewhat widespread in today's younger, faster league. Even if you take out the enforcers the rest of the players seem to not have the same edge that was pretty common a generation ago. |

I loved Boyle on the PK but he is the biggest 6'5 wussy in the league. |

He's not, I don't hate him like I used to but these guys playing 10 minutes a night are not gonna jump the boards, get 10 games to protect a teammate, we just need this team to do it for one another, they're grown (frank)ing men, this team as of right now doesn't have a strong enough locker room, they showed it on the ice, we need another veteran like St. Louis |

I have not watched Iginla much in the last few years. Is he even worth a look if the cost is right? Has to be better than Glass either way. |

Exactly, I didn't want to say his name really how many f'ing wingers can we have, we know he'd would have jumped Mcdonagh on bench and hitting Zucc with that shot, he don't give a (frank) |

you and I are in total agreement on this one
Iginla will definitely be traded somewhere, may as well be the NYR

SHould not be an issue ,NYRhas not been intimidated or beaten down in any way shape or form ...Other than Sid who gets a different set of rules and reactions
Retaliation !!! is what the NHL punishes , not Instigation....
If your team isnt going to risk the refs mind set that game (sumtimes they do call the 1st infraction ) like they should ,when infractions occur arnet the refs when seen supposed to call fouls& punish teams ....
WEll welcome to the NHL or (ringlin bros sub division of entertainment ...
this is where who u are is more important than what u are & like I said
When in doubt ,hit 1st & hope the reatliation if any gets called ...
Saw Toews can open a few NYR's ad mid ice in center ice scuffles ,never called
Fast leans on a guy ... called for hold or trip or its the home teams time to get a chance to get back in it ...
last cup run NYR vs LA size wasLA 's tkt & refs were lenient in calls ...
crashing into HANK ..acceptable till after when rules were changed ...'3 goals L A got were direct from physical play in crease ??? no call no foul? then
WHat everyone say as a catch phrase for the game ..... " THats Hockey "
well it shouldnt be ? but thats the lg. & hockey
DO NOT FORGET ... NO team like the NYR's gets the support win or lose !!
most teams suffer dearly when team is not good or competitive... OH welll
refs cab help balance it off ..like ringmasters keeping the ebb & flow for an entertainingn nite !
So I ask all ...why worry ,its a staged performance : sum actors get away with a whole lot more ,sum instigate ,sum pay for being rooks ,gotta know where u are & what u are ging to get away with ... "THE dive " who ideal to have it to use when u need the PP fix....
I will say our team has not taken advantage of the lgs policies not written & made use of them like Sid & others do ( play the refs for every call )
I E Mac should have after the 5 min mark left in the 3rd after his disaster ish 3rd
as A V said should have skated up & kicked the crap outta sidney lou for alll his indiscrections ...take the major,& treat it as a 1 time lose your mind act
on our team I would list Klein -Holden as D toughs & Krieds J T as hitters or power fwds who can defend with strength like Krieds JT has fast hands & knows how to handle himself
Using Glass is giving in & breaking whta we do ....attack with 4 lines
I think Hrivik can hit as well with his size .....
DO NOT CAVE IN TO PROTECTION PLANS >>PLAYERS PROTECT THEMSELVES
P S Eakins hit & ran soo fast no one had a chance to grab or hit him ! WATCH tape ..as he hits HANk shey is turning to play puck & Styaal starts to react & chase as Eakins bolts up ice toward bench ..FAST.. boys followed but were
intermet by refs & teamates .... no way to get him.... overstated event by media & fans ... not much u could have done any differnt |

Problem is, Iggy is probably going to demand a bigger return than he is worth based on name alone. |

he isn't having a good enough season to warrant a big return, and the Rangers have decent cap space compared to other contenders |
