Gonna be hard to kick Bylsma if he is sitting permanently . Kick him first , then sit him - cabin
Morning Cab. He's stifling the spark from this team. They need someone else to steer this thing. |

Yeah I agree. There are some talent issues but I think that is coming from inexperience. Seems they are trying to hard to use the "system" and not playing like what got them into the NHL. |

I get that players can't just be out there doing whatever the hell they want and all that. There needs to be some continuity and a general game plan and stuff. However, when that "system" is just stifling the players on the team, is it really the best "system" to employ?
There has to be a better option out there. |

I'm not a fan of how the team looks right now, but are we sure it's all on the coach?
Does he not get credit when Ristolainen looks to be on pace for a career year?
Does he not get credit when the power play is top 3 in the NHL?
Does he not get credit when guys like Foligno and Larsson seem to be finally fitting into a role in the NHL?
And this isn't solely directed at you, but my biggest beef is the lack of transition on this team, and to be honest, we don't employ the speed or talent on defense to play an up-tempo style.
We have seen Lehner fail to save almost every breakaway, 2 on 1, shoot out attempt possible. Maybe Bylsma HAS to play this style to salvage any points possible.
And I'm not blaming Lehner. He has been solid in other aspects. |

This kind of just goes along with what I'm saying though. Not everything that's going on is wrong, but the parts that aren't working need to fixed. You can't just continue to ignore them and hope they eventually work.
As far as the transition thing goes, I've been female doging about that all season. The passing on this team SUCKS and it starts on the back end. It's part of why I was mad that they moved Pysyk. He may not have been the fanciest guy, but damn did he have a great outlet pass. Now we have Kulikov who is a freaking train wreck.
On Lehner, I think his confidence in those situations is at an all time low. He just needs to get one save and I think you'll see that start to change. He just has no faith in himself in those situations right now. There's no way he's actually that bad in those situations throughout his entire career. Doesn't help that the shooters for us never seem to score in those situations. |

Agreed. I hope Guhle can eventually fill one of those roles. I don't think Guhle is an offensive wizard, but he has the skating and passing parts down.

I think another big part of the problem, and it's an observation from watching other games, is that the interference penalties just aren't called as often as they should be. I feel like every time I watch a game anymore, like 75% of the game is played in the neutral zone because neither team can really get anything going. The games are sloppy and disconnected. The product as a whole right now, is not good. |

They definitely need another quality defenseman to stabilize things in their own end but the forwards with speed need to be able to just skate without having to worry about someone being back.
My biggest problem is that they continually chase the puck in their own end. Teams can cycle them to death in our own end. |

I honestly feel like we were better with Fedun in the lineup than we are with Kulikov or Bogosian in there. Those two, since coming back from their injuries, have been BRUTAL. |

The Pen's had two generational talent guys in Crosby and Malkin and knew Bylsma was a problem. They moved on.

this was brought up the other day
fedun and faulk made the team look much better than kulikov and bogo
the team looked better with bogo, kulikov and gorges out of the line up
that is a scary non endorsement for our gm, who brought in those 3 d men |

It's just logical that they would change out the coach before turning over some of the roster, I just don't know how much it will be better.
We need a good puck moving D man, badly. |

While Fedun needs to work on his D at this level, his speed, hands and most importantly his ability to get the puck on net far exceed his liabilities. IMO.
Reminds me of Ghost Bear. Bylsma won't keep him up. |

Like we have seen with Eichel though, sometimes speed forces penalties. We don't have enough right now.
I really think guys like Baptiste and Bailey would help + another speed guy in the top 6 |

I like keenen , because I think for a short stretch we could see what we really have with him behind the bench
arniel, and dineen would be on my short list, but I think they would have to wait till off season |

I think he has calmed down a bit, and if nothing else, we would see what this roster really is with him behind the bench for a few months |

He should get credit for the likes of Foligno and Larsson playing better ... that said, he should also be discredited for the failure of higher value players in Gus and Ennis epic decline. I would much rather have Ennis and Gus excelling while Foligno and Larsson struggled.
But this is what you get when you employ a poor 4th line grinder to be your head coach.
He and his system need to go, fast isn't quick enough. |
