He's got be in shape now. So, whatever his stumble and who's to blame it begs a question. Would you take JV in this line up now over Skille, Chaput, Megna, Guance and Burrows? At the start of the season we would say yes. Even after what we have seen so far I would still say yes.
For me, I would rather see him playing with Sedins, Bo or Sutter over any of them. Add in Rodin and Boucher too while at it. Keep Burr and Guance/Skille rotating in. That would be the best forward line up I can see Canucks having now. - Nuck4U
Virtanen stopped playing physical so no...he wouldn't help the team at the moment. If he could hit and score a few goals he would be useful but he doesn't hit anymore. |

What does that have to do with your original comment on squeaking into the playoffs and winning a Cup? Facts are you don't win 99.9% of the time unless you had a very good regular season.
Rarely? Almost 40% of PT winners make the finals and 26% of them win the Cup....that's not rarely in my books.

I said squeak in have a chance.
U added WINNING a CUP.

Wow watching Stars v Kings Dallas has real bad tending and suspect D.
Explains bubble status but not why they don't make a deal. Miller and Sbisa would be a huge improvement for them. Prospects and draft picks work coming back.
Also, hate to see both teams get a point on WC race |

Nobody will take the Stars trash in goal.
LAK up against the cap & Quick makes them tick.
Without them just another team looking to squeak in. |

Or maybe he's just not ready yet and was rushed in or maybe just not as good of a player as JB thought.
I could of sworn you had McCann penciled in as #1C not that long ago...Not trying to be a huge Richard but my point being we don't know what these kids are yet or what they will be in the future.
Other than Horvat they are all still mysteries IMO. - belcherbd
The only person I can remember who said that on occasion was bieksa03. There were others who had their fingers crossed that he would exceed expectations.
I watched him tonight. He doesn't look like he's improved this season. He did draw a couple of penalties... He was sloppy with the puck and really weak on the boards. That doesn't pass here with WD. The Canucks win most of their puck battles. It's impressive really. Tonight, McCann looked like it wasn't part of his job description.

He can hit. I think he's doing more of that with Comets. Combination of shoulder injury, fitness and thinking he needed to just score took him away from that on many a night while he was here. But still don't see how the suspect 5 I mentioned are better then him now. |

Yes, but now that means if Canucks can beat Preds they can move into WC over Kings and one point back of Flames with same games. Big ask with depleted D but bubble life demands it
Guess we'll find out tomorrow if Tanev can go. Hutton is out. Pedan now up for insurance. What's the betting if Rodin and/or Boucher get a crack? |

Back to my theory a team needs a bot goalie to lift the mug.
Yes higher ranked teams win more cups.
Simply put they get hot goalies & their stars show up.
Explains why teams rank high to begin with. Thats no secret.
Still if any key injuries they win nothing.
Now on to the anomaly...
Patty Roy sucked against us but Sakic beat us.
Somehow in the end Patty gets the Conn Smythe.
BS of all time IMO
I blame the eastern media as a whole on their ignorance.
I'm sure i'll get no argument on that 😂😂 |

They are right up against the cap with a stack of prospects, they will need to make room for ELC.
I don't think it will take a lot to get him. He didn't have a good yr last yr and it's not like he's having a great yr this yr......kind of like Bennet. - Kaynine
I wouldn't trade Bennett for that and Tyler Johnson is better than him |

A hot goalie and health only get you so far if you a team who barely squeaks in ...depth is also important as it helps with injuries along with any struggles along the way |

Yes, and he showed inmrovenent throughout the season. He was training under the Sedins all summer so perhaps they are at fault? Inadequate mentors. The only thing we can all agree on is that Jake is in no way at fault for his regression - CanuckDon
You show up at camp overweight like that? Regardless of how he finished last season he didn't take his off season development seriously. So yes it's his fault. He needs to get his body and mind into NHL shape, if that's at all possible. And learn some humility. Train with the Sedins? doing what, eating Hot Dogs?

Essentially losing Sbisa or Dorsett would be nice strictly for cap reasons. Sbisa has been playing some decent hockey lately so it would be much harder to lose him. Losing Granlund would be a loss, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over losing Gaunce.
-Codes1087
i've been noticing that a lot of the Sbisa hate has died down and no one complains about trading shink...
maybe, just maybe... trader JB isn't as bad as everyone was making him out to be... did well with Baertschi, Granlund, and Sbisa... not to mention Guddy |
