Carol Schram: Luca Sbisa matures into blue-line leader on transitioning Vancouver Canucks I talked with Luca Sbisa about how his offseason has led to a better mindset on the ice as he has transitioned into a leadership role on the Vancouver Canucks blue line.

Craigs List. Interesting from #33 - 43 there are 6 centers. Maybe JB can work some magic there.

Ty Carol

Sbisa is often maligned but bucks the trend.

Thanks Carol, great interview.

Since he was acquired I have really enjoyed listening to Sbisa talk. Whether its an interview or one of those Q&A games with the Canucks staff, he's very open and articulates well

I have always liked Sbisa, hope he continues with his upward trend regardless of where he may be. Congrats to him and wife on pregnancy

Thanks and yes, agreed about Sbisa being very articulate and frank whenever he speaks. I have really been enjoying his answers in the "junior reporter" segments they've been showing at recent games.

I was planning on cutting this down but I thought there was enough interesting material here that it was worth posting in its entirety.

So does he stick around now with his improved play and leadership?

I didn't have the heart to bring up the expansion draft issue—and I ran out of time. I didn't get to ask about his goal song, either!

I can't see how the team will be able to protect him. But he does have only one year left on his current deal until he becomes a UFA. His wife is from here - maybe he'll come back??

So what you're saying is we can take a C in the 1st and 2nd round to increase our odds

Depending on who is available we need in order C LW D.
BPA is fine with me if no C can be mined ala BB late 1st.
D in the 1st would be fine if we make the PO's & pick late maybe Valimakki

There will be options available especially if we also get the Columbus 2nd this year.

According to a lot of predictions Vegas is taking Dorsett

In all seriousness we're probably losing Granlund. If not Gaunce. I think Sbisa is likely safe unless he plays very well between now and expansion.

What I meant by that was if these injuries to the other guys last and he plays extremely well he's much more likely to be noticed and taken by Vegas. Didn't mean he's been bad I think he's already been quite good for us this year.

Thanks Carol. Always liked Sbisa as a person. Thought he was a decent D that had some adjustment issues. Maybe expectations were too high and it worked against him. Now though I would miss him, as things stand, he will probably get picked by Vegas.

Essentially losing Sbisa or Dorsett would be nice strictly for cap reasons. Sbisa has been playing some decent hockey lately so it would be much harder to lose him. Losing Granlund would be a loss, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over losing Gaunce.

Those are old forecasts. The betting is D holds more value and that's why Vegas will take Sbisa. I don't deny Granlund has value. But it seems better forwards 1-13 are available for Vegas from other teams. So they would be looking at a trade chip when it came to Canucks. D has more value for them to get a draft pick at entry draft.

A trade idea that would save Spisa:

Tanev (or edler if we could somehow) + Hansen to TB for Druin, Filpula (1 more year of poopty contract), 1st (could be a decent one based on TB's play).

They get the top 4 d-man they need. Get rid of that bad filpula contract and add a good winger for playoff push.

We get a younger piece to add to the core + a pick and filpula for 1 more year. We save spisa!

There is no way Tampa trades Drouin AND a 1st for Tanev+Hansen.
I don't think Tanev+Hansen land you Drouin either...

Agreed. Drouin isn't going anywhere
