I think you can, or should be able to, start to see what you have in a kid by the time they're 20.

IMO Virtanen will never be what they hoped when they took him 6th overall, which is unfortunate....but that's just me.

I get what you are saying. JV took a step back. But he's behind on Bo and this time last year we were talking about Bo only being a 3C now he's showing 1C. So a lot can happen with these kids if they can find it and opportunity presents itself.

2017 do we want Jumbo Joe?
He wants to stay in SJ

2019 Tyler Segun...
Too far away & doubt Nill doesn't resign him early.

Just my opinion but I think we will trend up now not down.

I think this is our rock bottom . Sedins have done nothing for 8 games and we have won 6 of them with the young players.

I feel with the addition of Boeser next year and Ericksson Sutter Gudbrandson getting more comfortable with their roles and players like Hutton Tryamkin just improving will all come in to play.

It's a middling team at best, I wanna win a Cup, not squeak into a wildcard spot. They need a lot to get better.

You might not have too, they are right up against the cap. You may get him for a B prospect and a mid round pick.

Middling is not a bad start. Chicago were a horrible team before the trended up. We have half the climb

A few days ago i said offer JT 9.5m/7yrs.
Only responses were vague eg he wants to stay out East.

- Nighthawk

He's not leaving NY to come out west to a team rebuilding ...although if he did chose the Canucks over the leafs that would make hockeybuzz interesting

Who says we will be a poopty team. As sad as this is, we are competing for the playoffs with this roster.
- Kaynine

It's a year away when their contracts are up, we were third last a week ago, you honestly think this is a good team? It's an ok team with a serious lack of young NHL talent.

Of course it matters....WTF? Because it's happened once or twice in the history of the game doesn't mean you aspire to that. The better you are the better your chances are to win.

The Presidents Trophy got them within 60 minutes of a Cup...that's something.

Certainly, gotta make a few great picks and have them hit though....therein lies the hardest part of building a winner.

No I don't think we are a great team, but an interesting team. When the younger guys start to step up it tough to know where that could go. LE will be better next yr, BB coming in. The D looks to have improved. Cpl yrs Demko should make the adjustment. New coach lol.

I just think it's not all doom and gloom.

I think you should have an idea of their personality and skill by 20 but lots of factors still determine whether they can reach that potential. The biggest obstacle Jake has had to overcome is poor handling by his mgmt.

I find it funny that I was one of the ones on here quite down on Jake when he was picked but now one of the few, seemingly, that still think he will end up fine.

I also never thought he would more than a Brouwer type player though.

If it is not TAVARES, wait until the following season when we might be ready for.a.run. Duchene is a potential free agent then. Go big or go home

They are right up against the cap with a stack of prospects, they will need to make room for ELC.

I don't think it will take a lot to get him. He didn't have a good yr last yr and it's not like he's having a great yr this yr......kind of like Bennet.

'94 TL Bure MacLean also in game 7 without a Preident trophy winner
'82 squeaked in & made the finals.

Make the playoffs is what counts. What happens is next.

Not suggesting it is, but until some of those kids show NHL promise, they're just a bunch of hope. You can't win with hope.

I want every one of Bennings picks to turn out like Tryamkin, but it's a waiting game and I know for a fact only a few of them will actually become good players....just the reality of it.
